Re: Sixers deep in talks to get #1 pick for Fultz per Woj
Remember what happened last year, where the rumor was BC had a deal for the Celtics' pick, and then Ainge increased his demand at the last minute and sunk it? I'm thinking BC got out in front this time and leaked to Stein about the deal being close. Stein has gotten all the Colangelo & Son leaks (Hinkie letter, supposed Okafor trade that failed miserably). That way BC can make Ainge look like an ass again to their fellow GMs (as if they don't know that already). Now Ainge is telling his local guys that it's not as close as what's been reported.

Honestly, this why teams don't deal with Ainge at all. For all his talk about being a trade master he hasn't made a significant trade since 2015.

Id give up #3, 2018 LAL 1st, 2019 PHI 1st, and Roco if we get #1, Crowder, and AB back
ideally, rather than be the third wheel in a Butler to Boston deal, Id rather just do a Butler to Philly deal
#3, 2018 LAL 1st, 2019 PHI 1st
for
Jimmy Butler

Why not wait until June 2018 and sign 'unrestricted free agent' Bradley? Give nothing for him.
Because to me it seems this deal is done and I'm just trying to milk something out of Bos.
Them throwing Bradley in would be a no brainier for them. Frees up cap space, makes room for Butler or Hayward. For us it gives another perimeter defender to go along with Roco and we hold his bird rights

Now you know what Ainge is going to do.
Penny is the one of the best players ever in our franchise history. If the Orlando Magic had the #1 pick this year, I would do exactly what the Celtics are trying to do, acquire more picks and trade down 2 spots to the 3rd pick. Assuming Fultz goes 1 and Ball 2, I don't believe in any of the hype in Fultz so I will gladly drop from the 1st overall pick to the 3rd pick and choose between Josh Jackson, Fox, Tatum and maybe Isaac. And those 4 guys can definitely have a better NBA career than Fultz.

If the 6ers believe Fultz is a transcended talent you do the trade and let the rookie trio go to work. Otherwise you make a deal with Sac to block Ainge from receiving adequate compensation if he picks Fultz and hopefully he takes Jackson or goes crazy and picks Isaac.
Make them respond to your way of playing not the other way around

Glad this hasn't happened. Fultz's lack of burst and reliance upon the pick to create space for himself is just too much for me to handle. I was seeing Evan Turner like flashbacks where NBA defenders initially turned the heat up on him defensively, first starting in summer league. "But Evan Turner is out of shape from not playing since the end of his college season," no, this is him and what he looks like against pros.

And if I was the Sixers and I had the #3 pick in this draft, I wouldn't do what the Warriors made 25 years ago: overpay with multiple picks to select someone who could be a better fit but a worse player at the end of the day.
So, let's see if Colangelo learnt the lesson and he is not overpaying for Fultz.

Re: Sixers deep in talks to get #1 pick for Fultz per Woj
Assuming the Celtics/ 76ers trade gets finalized, Im guessing the Celtics had issue with Fultz defense and Fultz had an issue with how much playing time he would get in Boston so my guess is there was disagreement on both sides with Celtics and Fultz. Fultz probably didn't give his all to the Celtics and Fultz will give his all to the 76ers.
If for some reason the trade fell apart and Celtics stayed at 1st pick, Celtics would not take Fultz and would probably select Josh Jackson. Than Fultz might go 2 to the lakers and Ball maybe 3rd to the sixers?

What would it take to get butler? If we are going to give up all these pick, why not do it for a top 10 player.
Would #3, protected 2018 sixers pick and sac pick be enough?

Not one they'd actually be willing to part with.
However I know Ainge enough to know that he's willing to do something dumb like this.
He's prolly the onky gm in the league that's willing to trade the first overall pick without immeditley being a championship contender
I don't think Fultz is the generational, can't miss prospect that holds the huge #1 pick value. I'd love to have him, and he is the consensus top pick, but I think Ainge will come out on top if he gets more than one future first.
If any #1 pick was a "generational, can't miss prospect" there isn't a GM on the face of the planet that would trade the #1 pick... so that's kinda moot. You don't get many of those anyway.
Fultz is the perfect fit for this team with the guys we have... Ball and Jackson aren't. It makes absolute sense to go for him and throw in a future 1st rounder that may or may not be something in the future. You are much better getting the player you need now... rather than hoping all these variables go your way in the future and that the exact player you need is there in a future draft in the top 3.
That's kinda the point that Ainge is willing to trade out of #1. Lol. The post I responded to said Ainge is the only GM dumb enough to trade out of #1.
There was no serious consideration of trading out of #1 when the top player was Simmons, Towns, Wall, Irving, Anthony Davis, Embiid, Wiggins (after Embiid was hurt, Blake Griffin, D. Rose, etc.
I think the value of the #1 pick clearly doesn't hold the value it has in 90% of drafts. Therefore, I don't think Ainge is dumb for considering trading it to get what he views a comparable prospect and a future premium first.

Adding Butler won't instantly make us a contender imo..the team is 2 years away from being a contender and by then Butler would be 31. I rather keeping the picks and let the team grows. 2018 Lakers and 2019 King picks are our contingency plan. Please keep them by all means

well. the Lakers also do not have the same number of draft assets that we do. we own their 2018 pick, so I doubt they could put a package together outside of this year's #2 and maybe one of their young players (Ingram/Russell) that would appeal to BOS better than our potential package of picks.
doesn't mean the price is extraordinarily high - just too high for what the Lakers have at the moment.

This guy is a joke. His other technique is to say a team has "serious interest" in a player. When they don't sign the player, he says they went hard after the player but couldn't get it done. It's a risk-free insider story to make-up. I'm not an insider and wrote last night that this will take time for sixers to do interview, physical, and meet to review everything.

Yes it does help them with their cap but Bradley helps us as well. It's a win win. Besides, we're probably making the playoffs this year (or in serious contention for them) and Bradley will help moving up a seed. Like I said win win

Re: Sixers deep in talks to get #1 pick for Fultz per Woj
What price? Think about it, other than Ingram, what does LA have to offer Boston? Russell wouldn't get their interest for the same reason the Celtics are willing to move past Fultz. I bet Ainge asked for Ingram and Magic laughed. Beyond that, what could LA offer after the #2? They have a dearth of draft picks and players that Boston probably doesn't want or doesn't help. This should not cause BC to feel compelled to up the ante. The more that I think about this, the more I cannot help but wonder if Boston is the aggressor here. My guess is that they want something other than Fultz and if they keep the #1 pick, they are afraid not to take him. I would probably play some poker of my own if I was BC even though I admittedly want Fultz pretty badly. I still go back to some combination of the #3, Philly's 2018 & 2019 picks, and Okafor. I would probably hold the LA and Sacto picks, but just the same, I would probably part with the LA pick if push came to shove and the Sixers feel that Fultz will become a star.
