If it fell just outside of the top 8, yeah that would sting. Do you know the exact details? I had lotto protected in my head and next year 2 2nds? Maybe I was off.

Not much else he can do before the draft. Probably the Celtics, but not us.

Okafor, moving/consolidating some second rounders, maybe both. Bigger moves for the C's I imagine, but the Sixers still have some work to do. If they go after Butler then Okafor to Chicsgo becomes more of a possibility in the same or a separate trade.

Yeah we have alot of work to do, all those 2nds and Okafor being chief among them.

Great deal overall, but let's not get cocky and think we can just lay back draft Fultz and we are done working. Work our way into another 1st in this draft would make things really interesting.

one thing some arent thinking of Is having 2 1st rounders in each of the next 2 years creates a roster space and salary issue that made one of those pics more expendable. from 2017-2020 we have (7) 1 st round picks and (14) 2nd round picks. That pretty crazy (thank you Sam and BC)

The number of draft assets we have acquired is quickly outpacing our roster space even with the allowed expansion this year. And you can only stash so many guys overseas...so the more they can use these assets (not real Players-btw) to get better value/fit in the drafts, the closer we can get to being a stacked team.

The Celtics will never see this pick, it will be moved in a trade long before then. It could also easily be the 12th pick in 2019 after we win the lotto next year and get number one. Or the C's get a nice player in Mikes Bridges at 5 next year and we roll with or trade the Kings' pick after that.

Reports earlier today were #3, Lakers pick, and our 2021 pick. Then of the trade happening was #3, Lakers pick, and Kings pick. Having to only give up one of those picks is much better than it was initially being reported.

Also, Kings were actually winning games when they finally unleashed Skal.

Some of them wanted both those picks.
This is not a "Brooklyn typo of deal" imho.

The best scenario (for Boston) is #1 2017 for #3 2017 plus #1 2019.
It's a ton of value of course, but I think they expected more and a lot of things have to align for this happening.
The worst scenario is we keep the pick in 2018 and the Kings knocking to the post season in 2019, so it would be:
#1 2017 for #3 2017 and #14 2019 (for example).

However I think the Celtics have another deal in the waiting for those picks.

That's why I always try to stay even keel during trade talks, as hard as it is sometimes. Get all carried away with the most positive of all positive rumors and rarely ever do you get the amazing return you want. This trade is very fair on both sides. The Celtics could conceivably get a #1 overall pick or #2 overall pick out of it.

We talked ourselves into thinking we'd get more for Noel than we probably could have. Not that Noel wasn't valuable, but the league had us by the balls and they knew it. We had to trade one of our bigs because we were stockpiled and we wouldn't get a lot back. Just wasn't gonna happen.

By the way, I'm looking forward to draft night:
