Value of Fultz-Celtics is different from Fultz-Sixers. And I think the gap in value of Fultz-Celtics vs Josh Jackson-Celtics is minimal. But the value of Fultz-Sixers much higher than Jackson-Celtics.
Totally true. I personally don't like players like Fultz on the typical teams because I don't want him running my offense, and I'm not sure that he can play the 2 full time, or at least that he could play it full time better than someone like Josh Jackson.
However, on the Sixers that goes out the window because Simmons is here. He is a perfect player for us.
I was nervous when the rumor was unprotected Lakers 18 pick and a protected 21 pick from us. I was more nervous when it looked like it was unprotected Lakers 18 pick plus protected Kings pick.
Now that I had that brief scare I am totally on board with the deal as it has been constructed. Whether we pay next year or the year after, it is a very valuable asset that we traded. Thankfully, we still have one of the picks as a very valuable asset that remains.
There is no denying that Fultz/Embiid/Simmons is one of the most talented 23 and under cores that have ever been assembled, at least on paper, and I agree with the notion that we had excess assets that we could afford to do this. Hell Saric as a 4th 23 and under core piece is amazing even more.
I'm still nervous about passing on Jackson because I love him, but Fultz fits better for sure. No doubt about it that he is better for Simmons and Embiid than Jackson would have been.
Just look at my avatar to find out where my passions are on the Hinkie/Colangelo spectrum, but there is no doubt about it that Colangelo has handled himself very well in his first year. It's a very pleasant surprise for me because I was afraid that he was going to go in a different direction.
I love his draft picks of TLC and Korkmaz too. I even like the free agent signings of Bayless, Henderson and Rodriguez.
His only real misstep is how he handled the Okafor/Noel issue, but in retrospect the Okafor part of that has to be blamed on Hinkie. Nobody is perfect.
Can't wait for summer league now.
