Personally, PG > Butler for me for reasons already stated. Closest thing to Kawhi you can have with regards to challenging Lebron and KD on the big stage.

Paul George is better than Jimmy Butler.

PG is no lebron but I've seen him on multiple occasions hold his own against him in a playoff series. Similar to pierce.

Hmmm we have the extra stuff and would be a genuine % shot at the Finals with him where other teams are too low on the trajectory curve to get good enough for that which bumps up the chances of retaining him. Maybe the ideal person on the planet outside of Kawhi to have a go at both Lebron and KD. Wonder what Vegas odds would look like on this? We'd have to be in the top 3, no?

I don't see how the Cavs can get George even if they include another team. They don't have anything noteworthy to give other than Kevin Love... and why would a rebuilding team want him? He's not going to make whoever he's traded to that much better and by the time his new team is ready to really compete, he'll be 30+ and out of his prime. It makes zero sense for Phoenix or Indiana to trade for Love. It also makes Cleveland pretty weak inside despite having Thompson. I think Cleveland's play would be to keep Love and still get PG but how can they pull that off? The Celtics can easily top any offer they make if they want him.

I'm starting to think this is a big reason why Danny agreed to trade the #1 pick. If he moves the Lakers pick in a deal for PG, he's basically shipping out something like Crowder, Zeller and the #1 to get Paul George and the #3. I'll take that deal any day and take my chances that he sticks around to play on a winning team. Or maybe he somehow convinces Sacramento to come off their picks and trades #5 or #10 in a deal for PG, hence the workouts of guys like DSJ. I don't know, I just think PG is happening somehow at this point. Nobody can top the Celtics offer for him if they want him. And it shouldn't cost a ton asset wise to acquire him.

Makes sense. The more GMs speak they will be able to collude on offers and the return for Indiana will get worse and worse. They have to run this almost like I-bankers and try to create a high pressure secretive competitive bidding process. The longer it draws out the more people will talk and kill Indy's leverage.

Make the deal and sign Hayward/Griffin. That's a contender.

Because these teams would want you unborn child, that's why we sat there Jerking it last year. Nobody is getting anything for a Boston or Memphis 1st. They will demand multiple bkn/la/Philly firsts. Why the f would it change now

If Love is on the table it might be hard to top that.

I'd deal the #3 pick if George committed to an extension. Slim chance Tatum or Jackson become as good as PG.

And anything he said about not wanting to play the 4 is irrelevant versus lineups with "bigs" like those guys.

Lebron swapping Love for George does not get them past Golden State.

Long shot but I wonder if bird stepped down so ainge wouldnt cop **** about doing another deal with ' mates rates'

He stepped down because he saw the writing on the wall and was like, "F-this".

More importantly, Ainge will never have a more dominant position of leverage in trade talks for a star than in these talks. You could legit potentially hang onto all of your core future assets (#3, J.Brown, BKN '18, LAL/SAC pick) because George has killed his market so bad that people are actually debating whether a 29 year old max $$$ Kevin Love is enough for George, and it's not totally crazy. Any star you get is going to come at a far higher cost than this.

Now there is a reason for that and he is a legit flight risk no matter what this board claims, but for the price I imagine it'll cost? Worth it. Hope Ainge pulls the trigger, though I'm skeptical he will. He's soured away from rentals lately, think he will here but hoping he takes the risk like he was supposedly willing to on CP3 years ago.

Because PG said he's not resigning with IND. They have no leverage. Price has changed and they won't get close to what they could have a last years trade deadline.

Same here.

But now that he's shooting his way out of town, I'd try hard to get him for less.
