How about 5 + WCS ?

Who do you reckon the Kings would be trading up from #5 to get? I sort of thought they would be targeting Fox in the draft, but you'd probably expect that he's there at 5 if the Celtics and Phoenix take Tatum/Jackson in some order as expected. PG isn't a need for either team.

It could be seen that way, however the consensus is that this draft has approximately 4 surefire future allstars. Take it for whatever that means. But in theory that means kings are just outside that consensus allstar projection. So 3 swap for 5/10 isn't as far fetched

"The calls to trade Randle or Russell to Indiana for Paul George should be tempered, they share an agent with Paul George, it's significant. If you have been reading my words on Bleacher, the main expendable piece the Lakers can offer for George is Clarkson, may not be enough. As I've written, it's up to Aaron Mintz, George's agent, to try and manipulate the market, if he and his client are truly set on Lakers...IF. To an extent, the Pacers can ignore George's agent and his method but at risk is losing George for nada. If a team is willing to give up value to rent George for a season, so be it."

I don't understand the theory that all an agents' clients have to play for the same team, or be treated well, or whatever, at the pain of you not being able to sign the agent's best client.

Maybe that makes sense if the agent is Lebron James' childhood friend and business partner. But otherwise, I suspect it of being much overstated.

Having 2 top 10 picks increases dannys ability to hit on one of them

I think it depends on the Lakers. Also does Sacramento prefer a PG or a SF.

I know D'aron fox had been linked to Sacramento. If Sacramento trades up for a guard. Then I could see us moving back to 5 if we are happy with either Jackson or Tatum.

Bit of a buzzkill, though not likely to come into play.

I have been waiting for Ainge to trade some of these picks in for years and it hasn't happened so I am not expecting much. This trade was simply made because Ainge didn't like Fultz.

agree.

Danny basically prefers Tatum/Jackson/whoever to Fultz and if he stayed at 1 would have taken Tatum/Jackson/whoever. So all he did was trade down to 3 get the exact same guy he would have picked at no. 1, and now he gets a future no. 1, a likely lottery pick in 2019, in return.

That assumes the Lakers will take Ball at 2. If they do not, expect Danny to make another deal Thursday night.

We all got so hyped about Fultz we bought the hype that he was head and shoulders above the rest of the pack. A careful reading of every interview Danny gave indicates he never bought that at all. Danny's interviews reveal a lot more than many people wish to acknowledge.

If the Celtics are torn between Tatum and Jackson, they will definitely be able to land one of the two with the 5th pick assuming Phoenix no longer has the ability to select Fox. It would be assumed that Phoenix would then select either Tatum or Jackson. So this 3 for 5/9 swap looks really good. Plus another guy the Celtics love could fall to 9.

Agree Phoenix is big. They will draft along the same lines as Boston.

SAC at 5 we can assume they will make the wrong pick.

Sound like a great plan, however, Sac knows we are not drafting Fox. Our target is Jackson Tatum and Isaac. Sorry, but I think Sac sits back and calls either of our bluffs.

You don't need Fox and we don't. Sac is sitting pretty.

Later today or tomorrow you will be seeing a ton of rumors about a 3 way trade between Cle/Ind/Bos with George going to Cleveland and Love going to Boston. I would be surprised if it doesn't happen (the rumors).

Cleveland has nothing to lose because Lebron is probably leaving the Cavs after next year anyways. Cleveland needs the Celtics draft picks to get a deal done.

I always have 0% inside information and 100% speculation. Just makes sense that Indy and Cleveland would look Boston's way and we all know Ainge has a man crush on Kevin Love.

Don’t be surprised if Ainge makes more moves this week. Two front-office sources I’ve spoken to said the Celtics have already explored the possibility of moving down again in the draft. As of now, there’s nothing on the table, but Boston is open to the possibility if the deal is right. The Kings are “starved” for Kansas forward Josh Jackson, according to The Vertical’s Chris Mannix. The vibe I get from chatting with league sources is there’s a distinct possibility that the Kings would look to move up ahead of Phoenix (no. 4) for Jackson, possibly using the no. 5 and no. 10 picks.

You should be. It doesn't make any sense, salary-wise. Celtics will lose several core players just for salary-matching alone. Because of Love's high salary, we also lose max space for an FA.

Has the been much discussion of options like the following?

-- The Celtics trade the Laker/Sacto pick for a package including #5.
-- Sacto tanks really hard this season. Yes, this interferes a little with the value of Brooklyn 18.
-- The Celtics trade #3 and #5 together in some deal or other.

No assets for PG13. We will look like fools when he goes to Lakers of all places. Cavs are different as they may be able to sell him to stay if Lebron stays.

Didn't say it would happen, just the rumors. If Kevin Love is being traded you can bet Ainge will be in the front of the line.

I'm in agreement with the trade down crowd. Take Tatum at 5 and Giles at 10

Return to Boston Celtics
