I imagine Saric and/or Covington would have to be included, along with our own pick next year unprotected. Plus we can afford to absorb one or more of their contracts (Dudley, Barbosa, etc.)
Covington could be our starting SF, we know his defense is already very impactful and he improved as a playmaker. With Embiid as the anchor, Covington, Saric, Stauskus, and Okafor could take huge leaps being in the rotation. I would hate to see them traded and than have breakout seasons for someone else.
I see what you're saying. If push came to shove, I'd rather give up Saric than Covington, mainly because Covington is a much better defender than Saric. I don't see either Okafor or Stauskas having a future here as both are subpar defenders.
I was simply stating that in order to get value like the fourth overall pick, you normally have to give up value as well, and given that Embiid, Simmons and Fultz are currently all but untouchable pieces not to mention the stipulations involving the Lakers and Kings picks, surrendering either Saric or Covington would be a must along with our own pick next year. I'm not even sure that would be enough to get it done.
Since it looks like Josh Jackson may very well fall out of the top 3, I'd like to see BC make a push for him. Sure his shooting is suspect but he is an athletic wing defender which is something that is desperately needed to eventually beat a team like GS in the Finals.
