He has much more trade value. When the Lakers put Russell on the block they got a first round pick back. When the Sixers put Okafor on the block there were no takers.
we dont know anything. the only conclusion we can make is, nobody offered BC what he wanted. that doesnt mean nobody would take a flyer on okafor. im sure there are teams out there who would..
Agreed. Im sure there are a few teams that would take Okafor on the cheap and see if they can make something out of him. BC likely has a specific value he'd want in return, if its not met, he's fine with keeping him on his rookie deal. Worst case, his deal ends and we let him walk.
Okafor is likely never going to become a defender/rebounder or change much. But he's young, has talent, was a former #3 overall pick by us and was highly touted. If nobody is offering me a 1st rounder, decent player that fits OR he's not able to fetch you either in a package.....im holding onto him and seeing what you can get with more development. The risk of holding onto him is better then the reward in that case.
