A couple things off of that statement. 1- Can expect your players to act any different then the way you are acting... 2- After 3 years can all the sudden turn into a hard *** and say you are trying to build a culture or structure 3 - You can't have a player go AWOL in the middle of the season without punishment...
Doesn't work that way in real life.
You can't expect Phil to fix decades worth of F***ery in three years. The one thing we are overlooking is Phil has to deal with Dolan as much as he has to deal with fixing the franchise. I am sure keeping Dolan away is a big pain in the butt. All I know this is the best position the Knicks have been in years. We don't have to many garbage contracts, we have our draft picks, and we have a man willing to uphold our franchise despite star players turning turncoat diva on us
What stuff carries over from decades to decades. He has turned this roster over multiple times. So no players are carry overs. So now we are saying Phil failed because the drama that was here from years before him?
I am saying it takes time to change the culture of an environment that has been as unorganized, toxic and mediocre. We still have the same owner contributing to this problem. Phil has to convince Dolan, his players and his staff to buy into the new culture he is trying to establish. Dolan alone is a workout to deal with. So I am giving him some space for error as he is progressing as a rookie executive. No matter who you have there will always be growing pains. I am willing to accept these lumps from Phil because I believe he will only get better in the long run. Had we had IT at the helm we would of given up KP a draft pick for Jaylen Brown , a 7th and a bad contract. I feel Phil at his worst is still better then the goons we have had in Knicks Past
