T-Mac, Vince, Barkley, Paul, etc. never won. Was Melo ever a top 5 player for an extended period? I say no, so you can't really fault him for never winning. A lot of it is based on dependent variables around you.

There's a difference between faulting someone and realizing he can't be your top paid player and expect to win. Melo's built a career off of the belief that PPG correlates to winning, when there's zero correlation.

for melo to be successful he needed to be part of a group like pierce was. we thought we were gonna do that here. we never did for various reasons. amare being worthless after a year, jumping on tyson instead of waiting for paul, other various stupidities. it is what it is. it didn't work. it's too late now. oh well.

Same went for Barkley. He was probably the greatest offensive power forward, and a top 5 rebounder all time. He just never played defense. It's probably the hardest flaw to cover for.

It wasn't even that he plays Iso ball as much as it is how slow he plays. The difference between him and most of those other guys is that even when they play Iso ball, they are not stalling the offense. Melo peaked in Denver. Once he put on all that weight he slowed down significantly and lost his quickness and explosiveness. He began playing like an old man in his mid to late 20's. He doesn't cut, he doesn't get out in transition, he doesn't make quick decisions with the ball, all he wants to do is catch it in the mid post and milk the shot clock while the rest of his teammates stand and watch. On top of that he hates to pass. That's the biggest issue with him.

No choice. The offseason is nearly upon us.
the offseason was upon us after the finals. i know what you mean tho. free agency.
surely worth talking about.
i don't know if horny's fate is set. depends on the new prez. there aren't exactly better options floating around and horny has shown what he can do unbridled with a pack of young wolves. so long as the new prez doesn't come in with a new desired coach, horny should have a prime opportunity right now.

Given all the parameters at play, Melo to Houston seems like a long shot. It’s worth noting that, had Paul stayed with the Clippers, the Knicks and Clippers had discussed a trade involving Anthony for a package that included Austin Rivers, Jamal Crawford and a future first-round pick, league sources told ESPN.
