Besides, even if I will give you horford, is rasheed really the next biggest fa to sign? Then it's really proving my point.
But then you're probably a typical angry fan, who can't see anything with any level of objectivity to prove or maybe want to believe the fake news in your favor. Denial isn't a bad thing if it helps you sleep better at night.
They weren't willing to pay him a max 5 year deal. The 5th year is what scared them
SO my bad. Should have looked up the details. But before him, it was who? Rasheed at the end of his career or even Shaq doesn't count as big time free agent.
Well the thing with Rasheed was that the Celtics were already a top team and really only had the MLE to offer; it wasn't like Pierce or KG were underpaid and they could pull a Durant to GS.
Even on Horford, the point is he was just last year, and the results have benefited Horford handsomely, and trying to spin that into "well we don't get big FAs, we never do" not only is wrong, but it reminds me of last year when the forum insiders would drop something and certain characters would do is swoop in say "What are you talking about? Celtics NEVER get anyone, you're just making this up for attention". It took no courage, and gave no more real insight than then the supposed optimistic homers. And honestly, you talk about me supposedly being angry (off what I dunno), but how is that mentality bordering on paranoia not coming from some form of anger? "Oh, nothing good ever happens to them...to us...to me." Not trying to make any assumptions, but you get the picture?
I myself can only look at the situations in case-by-case, and reality is that's how it usually works; if your argument is the Celtics have never gotten anyone before, I could better argue that the Celtics getting anyone doesn't necessarily mean anything either. How have the supposedly loved Lakers luck been since Kobe got old and then ultimately retired? Even if Paul George claims he really wants to be there, even he's acknowledging per reports that there are better places to actually compete for a championship right now (including us). It's not like I have to put sugar & spice on where the Celtics actually are as a free agent or even basketball destination, and if all you can say to that is "well uhh we don't get anyone" NOW, you'll always feel you can say that, but that doesn't make you more objective than anyone, or any less in denial.
I mean, if the C's infact get Hayward, does that change your "we don't get anyone" narrative? Or will that be seen as another one off like with Horford?
