Whether he played afterward doesn't really demonstrate that the tear was minor.

Gar Forman lied to Jimmy Butler in the days leading up to the Chicago Bulls trade of him to the Minnesota Timberwolves and even continued to do so minutes before the deal was completed, according to a source.
“[Forman] knows what he said,’’ the source said. “Flat-out lied. That’s just who he is. Travelle [Gaines] hit it on the head.’’
Butler's trainer Gaines' Tweeted out a message condemning the Bulls' front office after the trade was announced.
“0-82. Worst culture in the league. I met drug dealers with better morals then their GM. He is a liar and everyone knows,’ wrote Gaines.

I know there's not much new substance there, and the source could be anybody, but it's still worth filing away that somebody is claiming in print that Gar lied to Jimmy about this.
Regardless, Jimmy's handling himself very professionally regarding Chicago. If he has any negative feelings towards the organization, he's keeping them private.

Gar's track record speaks for itself, as does the Bull's. I can guess who players around the league are listening to. And its always been that way, clearly among the large reasons why the Bulls can't attract A list FAs.

Clearly gar lied to jimmy, the fact jimmy was openly campaigning to stay in chicago and was still recruiting even up until his trade says he was lied to.
And we about to end badly with a 3 time champion clear future hall of fame player in wade.
These things factor in when a free agent is deciding to join your franchise. So guess what happens if we do happen to draft a all star talent? Gar pax will fail to add quality free agents next to him, and wll do another piss poor job of adding to the roster same way it happened with rose, and with jimmy.
Only thing tanking does is prolong the same cycle. 6 years from now we will be in the same boat.

Random thought, what if Gar had no clue how serious the trade was since it was Paxson that was making the calls? Could explain why he was so silent during the press conference and really Pax has been the one handling all the media appearances. Would make sense why Pax would directly deal with Thibs, since Thibs pretty much hates Gar.
Not that Gar doesn't come off as a snake, but just a thought I had.

I won't preclude the scenario. It would be another reason why Jerry's multi-headed FO monster is absolutely a handicap in the league.
As to whether or not this is plausible, Pax I think, called this accusation unfair. He didn't necessarily deny it.

You need to get over the free agent pipe dream. It was never going to happen. No matter who the GM was.

I like getting LaVine in the deal, he's a decent looking player and could develop into something real nice. I'm a fan.
I don't know/seen enough of Dunn yet to make any judgement on him. I like his story.
It's that Markannen pick with #7 that just soured me on this.
There were only 2 guys I really didn't want to end up here in the draft - Markannen and Zach Collins.
Those guys both just screamed Great White NOPE to me, a lot like McDermott did.
I finally figured out who he reminds me of-
Remember when the Raptors drafted Bargnani?
Skinny 7 footer who opted to just chuck up 3's instead of playing in the post.
The difference there is they had Bosh.
Maybe this is what GarPax is thinking - Markannen and Portis to be a Bosh/Bargnani combo.
Those were some decent Raptor teams but they got SMOKED in the playoffs.
Because the playoffs are about taking it inside and doing work - it's not about 7 footers chucking up 3's.
I'm curious why there isn't more chatter about DeAngelo Russell and if we could have swapped Jimmy for him in some deal.
Would Jimmy and #16 have netted him and maybe someone else or some future picks from LA?
I'd have preferred him over Dunn. I wonder if Deng was like NO WAY to Chicago again and we were not taking that Mozgov deal.

The Wolves were pushing for the deal to be Rubio instead of LaVine. Bulls wouldn't do it, so Wolves said if we include LaVine you have to include 16.
Sounds like Chicago was negotiating from a position of weakness, almost feeling like a deal had to be done. Allowed Minnesota to stay firm on its demands.

Our guys have reported that original deal as well. Then LaVine for #16.
Bulls were no doubt in a position of weakness. Butler's market wasn't good. In fact, it was almost nil. Which surprised most of us.
Would also explain why Paxson thought a deal needed to be done. If he wasn't getting market value now, why would that change in the future?
