Like it or not, trading a valued superstar for pennies on the dollar is very much a "same old Clippers" move. Anything else is just empty talk and hope and really needs to be seen to be believed at this point.

He wasn't going to leave anyway. It's something you guys talked yourselves into after he left. Like any superstar would willingly leave a max contract in one of the NBA's most desirable destinations on the table unless something really went wrong. And we need to find out what exactly went wrong so this kind of thing doesn't happen again in the future.

HOU would have had to gut the roster of the team he's joining if he went as a UFA

plus his Bird rights and ultramax were not sign & tradable
he re-signs next year for that

plus at Texas tax rates [zero!], which should be worth at least $30M over the life of the contract

Dont overlook the fact that this is a test year for the Rockets. CP3 can join up with LeBron next summer quite easily. I dont think its anywhere near a lock he re-ups on a full max in Houston. However, next season is the final chance he'll have a signing a 5 year deal (over 38 rule).

I am talking about CP3's entire tenure with the team. The organization failed to surround him with a championship level roster, hence the reason he ended up leaving. Superstars are valuable and they win titles. The sooner we realize this, the better off we'll be. I'm not sure fans of this team realize how valuable a true superstar is, considering how few of them have been around throughout our history.

If CP3 was deadset on going to Houston, why did most reports have him looking at the Spurs and the Rockets' link only come out a day ahead of time? Most expected him to re-sign if anything. At worst, he gave careful consideration to all 3 teams, but it was far from a certainty he was leaving, and if there was even a chance he was staying, the organization should have done everything within reason to keep him.

I never said Ballmer was a terrible owner, just very unproven and a bit overrated so far. Which is true, but not close to the same thing.

He's obviously been an upgrade over our former owner.

But, just because he's better than He-who-should-not-be-named doesn't mean we have to lower our standards to that level. It's a very low bar to cross, and there is a HUGE difference between "better than the guy on the tape" and a championship-level organization.

Having low standards enables complacency and mediocrity, two things this organization can LEAST afford at this period in time.

Do we have the cap space to bring CP3/LeBron/rest of the Brotherhood back in 2018? I honestly think this is the best chance to contend in both the short and long-term future and should be the #1 priority of the organization.

Didn't realize we weren't allowed to want the best for this team now. If I didn't have patience, I'd have hopped the bandwagon a longggg time ago. But I haven't.

Would be nice to see an actual "rise" in this team soon, or maybe you just have low standards. But don't drag me down with you.

Going to correct myself here. Paul's birthday is in May and he'll be 33 by the time free agency starts, so he's not eligible for a 5 year deal next season. Haven't dug deep into the bylaws on this, but the Nene contract saga pretty much confirms this.
