I knew getting his shot off was going to be a problem if he doesn't tweak it. But the weak handles in half court is a major problem. That's not easy to fix. Limitations there have a lot to do with foot speed and footwork.
Good: Passing/vision. Outlet passes in particular looked great
Bad: Slow, slow foot speed. Couldn't penetrate at all. Even when a big was switched on him he still couldn't drive past them to the rim. Anytime Lonzo tried to create in the half court, the only shot he could routinely get off was a contested 3 and he missed most of them badly. On the flip side, any Clipper, even the bigs, were able to blow by Lonzo when he defended them. Lonzo's handle wasn't elite either but it was really the quickness issue that was troubling him.
Also the Clippers were going under screens and still managing to contest Lonzo's 3 point attempts. His unconventional release is going to be a real issue for him in the NBA
People keep talking about Rubio, but Rubio has a lot of lateral quickness. When I watch Lonzo I really see a taller Jimmer Fredette. Both have really unique and interesting skill sets but both are just too slow to make use of them in the NBA.
