I doubt we get any draft picks out of this.

Never doubted the dude
I'm really curious what the deal is.
It can't be Anderson to us because that's not considered daring or a monster deal. That's just them doing a no-brainer.
Maybe we actually got something.
I just hope we are not eating any contract beyond 2 years in length and if we do there better be a 1st round pick included.

Fits nicely too.
In year one:
Frank
THJr
Moe
KP
Willy
In year two:
Frank
Moe
Doncic/Porter (they'd defend the worst perimeter player between the 2-3 and Frank would defend the better of the two between the 1-2)
KP
Willy
Beautiful.
So, in effect, other than getting $ to match, the deal is Melo for Harkless, as Leonard isn't any good and his contract sucks, the other guys are non guaranteed and not good and we release them, and Houston isn't including Harkenstein.
Color me not impressed with this "Haul"
It's better than getting Ryan Anderson straight up.
Melo doesn't have much value due to his NTC. It's basically Houston or bust. I haven't heard anything from Cleveland's side so it sounds like they're not interested. Which isn't surprising since swapping out Love for Melo isn't a game-changer.

I think Taylor can be a decent backup PG, actually - I liked him at Texas. If they give up Hartenstein, it's really all you can hope for. I'm against trading Melo just to trade him, but getting a young 3/D guy who has improved over the last few years and potentially a young player is solid. I can't see us getting a pick in that deal because of Anderson's horrible contract and Portland probably complaining about it. NOW, if we end up taking back Harkless, Davis (or Aminu), and Leonard I can see us taking a pick from Portland because it'd reduce their tax bill by a nice chunk I think. Maybe we can get the rights to Llul if Houston can't sign him?
Look at the PG, DMC, and Butler deals - none of them got any amazing return. We just need something that doesn't kill us cap wise or, if it does, a reason to be killed - pick(s) + young player(s).
I'm just trying to come up with ideas to keep Anderson off this team.

I'm a big fan of moving Melo, but for deals like this I'd retain him and all his ball movement killing, not defensive ways, until a better deal came along. And if one didn't, let him expire in 2 years.

I love melo I wish we could've bulit around him better, but a offense around run threw another player will be so refreshing.

Hartenstein is about the only thing that tips the entire deal from "sh*te" to "alright"

I'd be willing to take a first round pick instead of Hartenstein, also.
I'm in no rush trade Melo. If we can't get a deal with some kind of "fair" compensation, we wait. It's that simple to me.

Well, the Melo and the Knicks together were never a good thing. So in this scenario, this **** relationship is finally coming to an end.

After getting Hardaway, I think it's more of an imperative to trade Melo.
I'm not a fan of Hardaway, but if he's going to be successful here, he has to be the top scoring wing option on this team. That's the role that he played in at Atlanta and the reason why we paid him. And I'm sure that's what the Knicks braintrust is thinking right now.

We couldn't build around Melo better because he was selfish from the very start. Instead of waiting to sign with the Knicks as a free agent, he behaved like a brat forcing the Nuggets (and Knicks) to trade for him. This completed gutted the Knicks of young players and draft picks. A core of Melo, amare, Gallinari, chandler and Mozgov plus the future picks would have been a really great and young core.
Good riddance

Pretty much a better version of what we want Luke Kornet to do.
