Pipe dream time...
Hoping the twin towers experiment in NOLA continues to Flail and DMC starts to get... Restless. Pels are more pressured to keep him happy, because otherwise he'll walk at season's end and they'll lose him for nothing.
They have a dearth of talent, Holiday just got a huge payday (5/$126m) just because they can't afford to let him walk. He did experience a bit of a resurgence late this past season but his injury history trumps Bledsoe's.
This is when I make a godfather offer for AD.
Suns in: Davis, Holiday
Pelicans in: Bledsoe, Chriss, Warren (stay with me), MIA 18, PHX 18, Knight, Chandler
Suns get BPA by a country mile. Give up 4 young pieces to get him (Warren, Chriss, 2018 PHX and MIA picks).
Bled and Knight succeeded as a backcourt for a time, and while this no longer works for PHX it would be worth taking a flier on for NOLA, if only to land 2 Kentucky guys to keep Cousins happy. They automatically upgrade their backcourt while unclogging their C position.
Given Bledsoe and DMCs relationship, I think this might be the only swap where Bledsoe + Knight ($26m per) > the PG we get in return ($26m per for the next 5). So this part of the trade favours NOLA IMO.
They also get two promising young forward prospects, and two late lotto/ mid firsts in next years draft, to up their talent base.
PHX is not without risk, given the injury histories of Holiday and Davis. However you make this trade 11/10 times, knowing that you have 2 young bench prospects (Ulis and Bender) who can step up if either miss significant time.
NOLA
Bledsoe
Knight
Warren
Chriss
Cousins, Chandler
SUNS
Holiday, Ulis
Booker, Reed
Jackson, Jones JR
Davis, Bender
Len, Williams
Also, we end the "is Bled too young for our core" debate by biting the bullet and making it clear that we upgrade the PG spot as our next priority.
