Not true. Sometimes getting nothing is better than get crap lol. Pacers are a good example. They traded PG for Oladipo and his horrendous contract who is good enough to win them a few games and prevent them from completely bottoming out and getting a top 5 pick to start their rebuild. They would have been much better off losing PG for nothing which would have preserved cap space and allowed them to completely bottom out the following season for a top 5 pick. Instead, the are locked into an atrocious contract for a player that will lead them to the 10 seed in the east.

Indy was more intent on not having pg in the east.
You can't compare the 2 knicks are passed the point of melo returning. Plus Indy got a young player back with high upside.

Knicks main focus is going young, preserving cap space for Indy is pointless nobody is playing in Indy if they are a joke on the court.

Now if melo stays it's countless drama and confusion, knicks don't need anymore of that, knicks need to get young hungry players, what is the crap you speak the knicks getting? If knicks get one young player I'm good.

Knicks need to learn team basketball and unselfishness, melo isn't helping with that so having him another year just builds the cloud over games post games etc.

It's addition by subtraction from building a team stand point.
