Bagley, Ayton, Bamba, Porter, Doncic seems like a pretty solid top 5.

I agree. The 2018 draft is shaping up to be quite impressive. I still like Robert Williams as well. The funny thing is, I expect we could be significantly better than last year simply because of the addition of Josh Jackson, the growth of our young rotation players and the substitution of Bender for Alex Len (whom one could never help but recognize was never very good for us in terms of RPM or VORP). So in my view it's altogether possible that we don't get one of these top prospects.

The silver lining here is that there seems to be depth in next year's center crop. That was last the case in 2013 and before that, 2008.

I like my big men to dunk the ball, personally. My favorite player in Suns history was Amare Stoudemire for that reason, and after that, Shawn Marion. My ideal selection next year would be a deceptively clever, obviously strong, long-armed dunker and dunk-blocker averaging 35 MPG at the 5 spot for us over 82 games over each of the next 20 years. But I'll settle for whomever McD selects.   :P 8-)

Our young core should improve. Jackson will be a big help defensively. He will have the defensive impact of PJ Tucker with a more efficient offensive role. This team is one glue-type player away from clicking. I happen to think it all it might take is a coach with a real offensive system.

I expect us to be competitive, but I can't realistically see us finishing in front of anyone in the west accept maybe Sacramento, but for whatever reason they seemed to be playing fairly well after the Cousins trade and added Hill, Randolph, Carter and Fox. We could be better than the Lakers, but I expect Ingram to improve, and if Lopez stays healthy and KCP plays well, they have a decent starting lineup. A lot of people big the Mavs to be at the bottom, and they might be near the bottom of the standings, but I think they will be tier above in wins in large part to Carlisle, but they still have Dirk, Noel from the beginning of the year, and Smith, Jr looks better, Curry is a deadly shooter, Barnes, Matthews decent.

But the east, who knows? I think we could easily be better than Chicago, Atlanta, Brooklyn, might be similar to Indiana and Orlando, but those latter two teams I suspect might do better, especially in suck a weaker conference.

I think we could finish anywhere in the bottom 7 or 8 unless our players significantly improve and/or we play the vets a ton, though probably between 4th-6th.

Givony and Schmitz are joining ESPN and their content will most likely be hidden behind a paywall :(

I say we create a new DX, I remember when Givony posted on realgm and he was looking for writers to make content.

Yeah, and Shams was here as well. Not sure what his username was but he started writing for the site and that was what he called his big break. He's barely out of college too...I think.

RIP DraftExpress.

ESPN will probably put all their scouting videos and rankings on insider.

I always wondered where Givony got his money to travel all over the world & scout players. The site couldn't have foot that bill.

Lol that's pretty funny. To be honest I've thought of taking a shot at putting together a website as a portfolio for data projects and basketball writing as something to do for fun on the side, maybe I'll put some more thought into it eventually.

Kind of sucks that DX is getting taken over by ESPN. I don't blame them though, ESPN can offer resources in the sports world that are invaluable and I wouldn't be surprised if their quality went even higher after this. I just don't like the potential of there being an agenda behind the ex-DX team knowing how ESPN can be.

Early Season Tank Rank:

1. Atlanta
2. Chicago
3. Sacramento
4. Brooklyn (conveys to Boston)
5. New York
6. Phoenix
7. Lakers (conveys to Philadelphia or Boston)
8. Orlando
9. Indiana

*Assumes Anthony is traded by NY / Wade is bought out by Chicago.

On a sidenote: there are some utterly ridiculous lottery results for Boston while they may be number 1 seed.

If we got Irving I think we move past all those teams listed and into the late lottery, which would be a thread killer.

it could be part of why they grew so big, extra growth hormones, there's a name for it. Too much can lead to other issues, but Ayton looks like he just benefited from it fine, 7'0 and 250 pounds as a teenager, solid body, no injury history so far *knock on wood.

I think with new chemistry and lesser defense, it could be the other way around. Its Booker, Chriss, Bender and Warren improving that could be the thread killer.
