Spoiler:
So, by now, I've sort of gotten over the issue with traveling distances in short periods of time. But my concern with the breakneck pace is that there isn't enough time being given for the show to...breathe. Moments to fester. Events to unfold methodically.
It was a damn travesty that Gendry got reintroduced into the story without even a moment to give weight to his journey.
It was shameful to have that emotional reunion between Jamie and Tyrion take place within a couple minutes. Hell, it felt like Bronn took longer leading Jamie to Tyrion than the show dedicated to their actual conversation. And the request for a cessation of hostilities seems like a terrible idea on Dany's part. At this point, she's setting herself up to get whacked.
I think the way Sam resolved his Oldtown arc was a major disappointment. I mean, we spent the season watching him scrape ****, scrape skin, and talk to Maester Marwyn for a minute here and there. Then, he steals some random **** of unknown value from the library and peaces out? How does that make any sense? That's not to mention the MASSIVELY consequential reveal that Gilly was reading about Rhaegar legitimately marrying someone (probably Lyanna), which actually makes Jon Snow a legitimate heir to the Iron Throne.
Arya sneaking around LF without wearing another face - or being more cautious - doesn't make a lick of sense to me unless she's conning LF as well.
I also believed that the whole Magnificent Seven **** at the end with Beric, Thoros, and Sandor Clegane was way too contrived and hashed together.
Plus, we have no idea what's going on with the Unsullied and Euron Greyjoy for the second straight episode.
I know B&W are put in a difficult situation with HBO only ordering 13 episodes to wrap up such a gigantic story, but I feel like the pace is such that some of the actual weight of the story is being lost a bit. They would have been much better served with a full two season order, IMO.
