Let's pair Rosen up with Kyle Shanahan and see what happens!

At the very least it's maybe one of the oddest personality pairings between QB and HC in NFL history. Well, unless Shanahan IS a different man now as a HC. I'm willing to entertain that thought to a small degree.

Still taking a wait-and-see approach with Rosen's maturity. He has some distancing to do with his younger self.

That's fair. I feel like he's taken a step in the right direction tonight maturity wise. If he's available, I personally wouldn't want to pass on him for that reason alone.

I get that's where some of it comes from but there's still legitimate NFL types who think he should still be considered for a bunch of these openings. Amazing to me.

Yeah someone really criticized Mora recently, especially the way he handled Rosen's political comments.

"Chosen Rosen" is such a gifted player. It's his maturity that's causing coaches and GMs to want to entertain other QBs with the first overall pick; but I agree, because if they were so forgiving towards "Famous Jameis" then Rosen will definitely go #1 overall as well--if that's the only issue that's on the table when it comes down to the evaluation process.

Bingo I know you like Darnold more but I personally have my sights set on Rosen. I'm hoping that's Darnold absolutely balls out and is taken 1st overall which would give us a shot to trade up for Rosen (I think we'll pick around 10). That being said, I could live with Darnold as a consolation if Rosen is taken #1

Maturity issues because he's outspoken or expresses political views?

Hmm, given Kaepernick's history here, maybe Jed will veto Rosen.

Not a good comparison. Rosen is more like Tony Romo than Kaepernick, Most important difference: he doesn't suck.

Kaepernick was mentally lazy; Rosen is just arrogant & immature.

Looks like the next star WR for the Vols.

John Kelly is a god damn stud RB as well.

Agreed. Kelly looks very interesting thus far. Willing to take a hit, dish out contact, and shows an ability to run with low center of gravity with a rare ability to keep on moving after contact with a smaller frame (listed 5'9/205). Can stay skinny and squeeze through tight holes while keeping good balance, too. It's early with plenty of time for some screw ups but early guess is he could interview well with people IMO. Seems like he has an interesting personality that might rub off well on others.

Hard to think of the last time a Vol WR played up to expectations.

Carl Pickens circa 1992??? :ouch:

Not Cedrick Wilson. :)

Peerless Price ('99 draft) had 1 very good season and 3, maybe 4 half decent seasons. Not quite Pickens but MAYBE the next best one.

Reminds me how much I liked Denarius Moore for a while.....

Good stuff there. I wonder why they haven't included Jarrett Stidham, and Drew Lock...?

Lamar Jackson - QB - Cardinals

Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson is now Bovada's favorite to win the Heisman.

That didn't take long. Sam Darnold was the betting favorite to win the Heisman all summer, but his odds fell from 9/2 to 6/1 after a poor showing in the opener against Western Michigan. Jackson is now 4/1 after checking in at 15/2 at the end of August. Josh Rosen is the week's biggest jumper, going from 25/1 to 8/1.

Ronald Jones II - RB - Trojans

USC junior RB Ronald Jones II is "very explosive," according to ESPN's Todd McShay.

Jones II was on McShay's mind after the Trojans star dropped 159 yards and three scores on Western Michigan over the weekend. "Jones' elite top-end speed was on display, as well as his ability to hit holes with a purpose," McShay wrote. "He's not as well-rounded a back as Barkley or some others in this class, but he's very explosive. I gave him a Day 2 grade coming into the season, but he's off to a great start." USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin has compared Jones to Jamaal Charles.

Dude made several spectacular catches during that game. I was a little impressed:

Simmie Cobbs - WR - Hoosiers

Indiana redshirt junior WR Simmie Cobbs "won in the eyes of scouts" with his performance against Ohio State on Thursday, according to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline.

"The big bodied wide out proved himself a game controlling receiver that consistently wins out for contested passes," Pauline wrote. "And though the Buckeyes secondary has been depleted by graduation and early entry into the draft they still line-up Denzel Ward, a cornerback many feel has first round potential." Cobbs caught 11 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown in the setback against the Buckeyes. "In July we noted Cobbs could stamp himself as a second day pick with a big 2017 campaign and he’s well on his way," Pauline wrote. Cobbs (ankle) missed all but one game a year ago, but when healthy in 2015, he posted a 60-1035-4 receiving line.

Josh Rosen - QB - Bruins

An NFL scout told Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldman that UCLA junior QB Josh Rosen "definitely got away with a number of poor choices" during Sunday's comeback win over Texas A&M.

Rosen threw at least two passes that probably should have been picked in the second half, though to be fair, he was forced to play a little bit looser than normal given the 34-point second-half deficit the Bruins faced over the final quarter-plus of Sunday's contest. Said the scout, "The question is from the neck up, he’s got everything from the neck down. Plenty of arm, easy release, accuracy when moving from one receiver to the next." He went on to tell Feldman that while Rosen performed more sharply than either Josh Allen or Sam Darnold -- his likely competition for being the first quarterback drafted in the spring -- during the opening weekend, he still has "a long way to go." The star junior ultimately finished with 491 yards passing and four touchdown tosses in Sunday's epic win.

J.K. Dobbins - RB - Buckeyes

Ohio State freshman RB J.K. Dobbins will be the starter for Saturday's game against Oklahoma.

Dobbins, a four-star true freshman, ripped it up for 181 yards on 29 carries in last Thursday's season-opening win over Indiana. He was filling in for an injured Mike Weber in that game, as Weber was dealing with a lingering hamstring injury suffered in August camp. While Weber -- who started last year -- is expected to play in Saturday's big showdown with the Sooners, Dobbins might just have Wally Pipped him with his breakout performance against the Hoosiers.

Mason Rudolph - QB - Cowboys

Oklahoma State senior QB Mason Rudolph sliced-and-diced South Alabama for 335 yards passing and three touchdowns in Friday's 44-7 win.

With those 335 yards through the air, Rudolph became the program's all-team leading passer, supplanting Brandon Weeden for that honor. The ultra-prolific senior hooked up with James Washington on a perfectly thrown catch-and-run post for a 66-yard touchdown with 5:31 remaining in the first quarter and found Marcell Ateman for a four-yard score in the final minutes of the quarter. He would quiet down in the second quarter before turning in a 20-yard touchdown pass (to Ateman once more) shortly after halftime and capping off his evening's work with a 10-yard touchdown run to give the Cowboys a 34-0 advantage midway through the third quarter. Rudolph has now completed 45-of-62 passes for 638 yards and an 8/0 TD/INT ratio in two games -- neither of which saw him play in the fourth quarter due to lopsided scores. Up next on the docket as Rudolph looks to continue building a Heisman resume, a road showdown with Pitt.
