He was a relatively non impact defender as well but I think that will develop in time. His size, steal, and block rate portends success on that end, but Washington wasn't worse defensively when he was out.

But on offense he's more than likely just a shooter, which should be fine given Simmons penchant for playmaking.

Fultz's 6'10 wingspan should help him become a good defender. Perimeter defense was one of the Sixers main weaknesses, last year.

Fultz is more than a shooter, his hesitation moves are perfect for getting shooting space. He should be a great option for game winning shots!

Yup. Fultz is more than a scorer. He just is heavy on scoring because of the team he has played with. And his hesi is good for that hard to defend hesi-pull up and it also helps him with his counter moves.

I just hope he doesn't settle too much on jumpers that will turn him into like Jrue Holiday.

Defensively, I like his potential as a help defender. But I do think he needs to get more swipes.

The swipes are scary, too many things going on, can't control landings. Also, seems like poor defense, he should try to stay in front of his man. Although, swipes are very entertaining when successful.

New Orleans should be a scary team, Jrue, AD, and Cousins had an offseason to make adjustments. They could be a much better team. Anyway, Fultz seems to have a better post up shot than Jrue. He can get separation and good looks against tough defense, the way Kobe and MJ did for last second shots. Fultz doesn't have the explosive athleticism they had, but he does use the same techniques.

Fultz does seem to be a very good spot up shooter, a skill very important playing with Simmons. The fit among Fultz, Simmons, and Embiid is being underrated by most, they could be a great big 3 for many years. The transition buckets should be plenty and fast, TLC is a very good transition finisher and defender.

I mean, swipes like robert covington, iguodala or steph curry type deflections that leads to fastbreaks. Something Lonzo is also good at.

Fultz can be a very good spacer but I hope he's not limited to it. For me, he's best to play like IT. Great perimeter scorer (58-60 TS%) with underrated playmaking (32-35 AST%). Down 3, fultz is also the guy you go to make that shot. He also act as a pressure release valve where he can play PnR w/ Simmons.

Point guard will be shared like between CP3 and Harden, put that in your brain.

Anyway if you don't let Fultz play PG it didn't make sense to trade for him. He won't be happy and his value will be minimized for future trades like Harden.

Hell I'm willing to take the bet that the offense will be better with Fultz at PG than Ben, at least when Embiid sits out a game (since he's pretty much a cheat code). The gravity of a guy who can pull up for 3 is just way different. Markelle will create space for everyone while Ben like Rondo will reduces everyones space.

Fultz may have played PG his entire life but he seems more suited to play as a combo guard. Kyrie played as a PG his entire life but he's more of a combo guard and loves to look for his shot more than pass. Fultz seems to be more pass oriented than Kyrie but they both love to shoot and want their shots. I think Simmons will be the better PG because he loves to pass and get others involved. I think Fultz fits with Simmons well on offense. Simmons needs the ball in his hands to maximize his ability moreso than Fultz needs the ball in his hands.

I think it will be beneficial for this team to have more than one guy able to bring the ball up and facilitate the offense. Having both simmons and fultz will be a luxury. As to who will be the primary ball handler, we will have to see how it shakes out based on their performances in training camp and preseason. The entire starting lineup has had very little or no nba experience as well as playing together so there will be a lot of trial and error before we know how big of a role either play when it comes to PG duties. I am certain even the coaching staff is still trying to figure that part out. Late in the game, I do see the ball in fultz's hands though.

Both are patient playmakers, a luxury that's being underrated.
They will use the best option, when available.

Simmons will start half court offense, probing for a good pass or dunk. He is a good rebounder and starts fastbreaks, his ballhandling and passing is elite.

Fultz could be a dynamic scorer, he can make contested shots like Kobe. He should be a sharp shooter like Ray Allen. He could be very difficult to defend.

I know the talent around him sucked hardcore, but Washington was not even a top 100 offense last season.

Fultz was drafted for his size, shooting, and age. He certainly has the potential to improve other facets of his game. But he's not a ready made star or a guaranteed all star or anything.

In my opinion he's nowhere near the prospect that Embiid, Simmons, and Ball were coming out of college.

Purely a play on his potential.

guess the elite passing was about simmons, and simmons' passing IS elite.

WHOOPS. Yeah no argument there.

I can't wait to see Simmons this year. Kid was incredibly underrated entering the league. And now with a year off and all the attention on the new crop of rookies He is really being slept on

Simmons' recovery should be very beneficial, he should be better prepared. During their recoveries, he and Embiid should of spent time reviewing plays by great teammates, such as magic + Kareem. Also, Professional coaching showing them techniques that should work with their size advantage.

Fultz' passing may not be elite, but he should be very good at passing, too. He probes the defense and gets good shots for himself and others. Ball movement should be exciting.

The one thing that doesn't add up with Fultz is the discrepancy between his FT% and 3pt%.

A lot of scouts think FT% is the better indicator because 3pt% can be so highly affected by degree of difficulty and slight short run randomness with regards to true shooting ability.

I tend to think his 3pt% is legit and that his ft% was a nerves/mental issue as a frosh. A lot of guys take a year or so to get acclimated to the big arenas, crowd noise, etc.

Simmons is going to provide him with a lot of good looks. Surrounding Simmons with shooting is definitely the ticket to a top offense. His game is similar to LeBron. Bullhead to the rim and drop off or kick out.

Needs to get rid of the hitch on his FT's. His jumper looks so fluid and he elevates pretty high on it I dunno if he's simulating jumping on his free-throws but there is a noticeable hitch there.

If Brown could get some improvement from the FT line out of Noel and Okafor.....Im confident he can fix a high level scorer in Fultz's woes at the line.

His coach was surprised his FT's were low, said he was better than that. Anyway, his outside shooting looks deadly.

Fultz, Redick, and Covington should have some great outside shooting nights.

Go to the 1 minute mark to hear what Fultz has to say. I don't think anyone will be shocked by what he says and I believe him too.

Fultz vs Doncic?

Fultz more likely to be a star but Doncic, altho less likely to be star has higher chance to be a superstar.

I think Fultz is a better scorer, being just a natural at it. While Doncic is a better all around player, better bball IQ? and that could mean higher impact player that superstar traits love.

Fultz also seems to be more athletic that gives me better confidence with his being a better finisher and defender now or in the future.

But yeah, Doncic seems to have a chance to be the better shooter and all around player.

I also think position also plays a big part where you LOVE Fultz at PG with the size and skillset while Doncic maybe slow at PG and could be more comfortable but doesn't really intrigues me at SG (manu?).

A lot of guesswork. Could be like Harden vs Manu, with Fultz being Harden IMO. What do you think?

I understand what your saying, but Ball shouldn't be thrown in with Simmons and Embiid. Sorry, noone can fix that fugly shot, but the pace Ball will play at and the near triple double numbers he will probably put up on that team will help his cause.

Embiid has a shot already, and Simmons shot is actually fixable. Fultz also already has his shot developed. As one of my boys said, Ball shoots like a girl to be honest. He's a great kid actually in spite of his dad, but at the end of the day, NBA level defenders sitting on that left hand will bother him......alot. He has been able to deal with it throughout his career so far, but the NBA isn't UCLA.

Ball might win rookie of the year off of hype and splitting of votes between Simmons and Fultz, but Simmons is on a whole nother level as a prospect.
