I'm just glad to see us not caving into some outrageously bad trade offer like we have in the past. If Melo wants to stay the year and then exercise his ETC instead of playing this year on a playoff team, then so be it.

You rather have the Knicks agree to a **** deal which would further hamper our cap situation? I've long given up on the young player + pick which the Knicks have wanted. That ain't happening. However, the least we can ask for is to not further hamper our cap situation in any Melo trade. What sense does it make to take someone like Anderson, who is the worse player on a worse contract which also runs longer?

Nice to know he'll show up for work for the team paying him $26,243,760. @Hoopsinq will put ESPN & CNN out of business soon enough...whatever the fxxk that is....

And when he opts in, we ride it out until his deal expires and say bye, bye.

I hope Mills & Perry stick to their guns.

I find it extremely hard to understand Melo at this point. I don't know if he realizes it but he is putting himself into a very bad position if you ask me. At this point in his career he is not a hot commodity anymore. He is 32 years old and has maybe 2 solid years left as a kind of star player. Why in the world is he so stubborn on only wanting to join Houston? He and his camp must realize by now that Houston is only offering a worse player on a worse contract and that there is literally no way the Knicks are going to agree to that. Right now he is looking at another 30 win season and a lot of media drama in New York. If he stays here, he'll only experience another lottery season and further drop of his reputation and market value. I find it kinda crazy that he hasn't opened up his list a little bit. You'd think he'd put at least 5 teams out there where he'd be willing to go. For Melo, having a very succesful year next season is important as it is his only chance at a final good contract. He is wasting everything away.

The Rockets are gonna be strong regardless, and the Knicks are gonna suck regardless. Melo is actually the only party that should be in a hurry to get something done. With a good year on a playoff team he could still opt out and look to join a preferable situation in free agency with chances at a good final contract. If he sticks it out here, he'll literally have killed any chances at a decent final contract.....I don't know if he realizes it, but IMO he is killing any chance at winning anything but also any chance at some financial reward after his current contract is up.

And I can honestly say that I'm one of those knick fans that has defended Melo a lot over the past years. I'm not a Melo hater at all. I just find this crazy on Melo's part. So he'd really rather go to the lottery again and kill his own career with his own hands rather than joining some other destination where he can make the playoffs and possibly cash in one final time? I mean , it just boggles my mind.

it's really not hard to understand. all the offers for melo out there are garbage so management is staying put. if we trade him for garbage that compromises future team flexibility you brats will still complain.

get over it.
