Players and various people who worked for teams had been complaining for years about barefoot measurements. Larry Johnson, the #1 overall pick in 1991 expressed his thoughts on the measurements after he came in an inch and a half below his listed height of 6'7". "Ain't that pitiful?" Johnson said. "You don't go out there with your shoes off. Ain't that right?"
In this case, Larry Johnson being a 6'5½" power forward didnt hurt his stock, because he was in a weaker draft, but many times measurements can really help or hurt a players position in the draft.
So how tall is Frank then?
LJ is 6' 5.5 inches tall. He was listed at 6'7 due to the 1 to 1.5 inches sneakers gives you, depending on type. LJ got his extra height by being measured in sneakers
Frank is listed, variously, at 6' 5.5" and 6'6". He looks basically the same height as LJ in the picture. I think Frank was most definitely measured WITHOUT shoes for his height, so his "NBA playing height" will be 6' 6.5" and possibly 6'7"
Give or take .5
At this point, we've seen him next to enough guys who are 6'6" to say he's that height or really close to it. LJ, Aaron Judge, THJr
Reiterating a comment from deeper in this topic, I think Frank and KP and Euros are almost always measured without sneakers, while for USA players prior to the pros it seems to be a mixed bag, leading to differing heights on draft sites, and then once in the NBA, like an arms race, everyone just goes and measures in sneakers. For this reason, KP's 7'3" and Franks 6'5.5" look taller. I swear I've said to myself, half a dozen times, when KP is standing next to an NBA center listed as 7', that he SO much taller looking. I think it's because besides the fact that 3" taller is noticeable, it's actually 4.5 inches taller in a lot of cases, which is REALLY noticeable. And we're seeing some of that with Frank, where at 6'5.5", he's standing next to guy drafted at 6'7", and effectively they look the same height.
