(Of course, a guy like that would improve any team at any position!).
The obvious candidates to be traded are either Gortat or Mahinmi. I'd much rather trade Mahinmi, but I see no likely takers (& I'm not interested in throwing a R1 pick to make the trade more attractive).
Wish we had Christian Wood instead of Chris McCullough....
Now would be the perfect time to try and over pay for Richaun Holmes. An unprotected 2019 a 2018 second and mahinmi for holmes, with the caveat that we pay half of mahinmis salary in cash to them, The salary figure doesn't really matter to them but if you can cut the actual money being paid in half that makes it more attractive. Money wise no does not make much sense, but if you want to get better and open up flexibility that's the way to do it over pay. Then you can bring in a serviceable enough back up center off the street or make some other moves. Then you have homles and morris as a pf tandem which would be killer.
Oh man... Gamby there is nothing in this world you like better than trading away draft picks. It's amazing, really.
Trading away your picks is how you get yourself in the salary bind we are in. No more of that.
Anyway, they aren't going to be interested in trading Holmes -- why would they be? You want Okafor? He's available.
Don't get me wrong -- I'd love to have Richaun Holmes. The way you get players like him is not "over pay" -- which anyway we can't afford to do -- it's by having a FO capable of doing outstanding player evaluation.
I would love for Okafor to become a Wizard.
I haven't looked at his numbers. I presume they're not good. However, I just believe Jamil scores so efficiently inside that his skill could help this team.
The NBA is trending towards spreading the court and hitting threes. Seems to me there is a possibility of buying low in a trade to acquire a young guy with potential for improvement.
