I would start Beas at SF and Anderson would be our 6th man

Why do people think if Melo is staying is just for a one year?

You know what Melo values the most? Money and living where he wants. NY gives him both.

Of course he can get like two or maybe even three year deal from some garbage team like Phoenix, but he is not going there. He will cash his 30mil and stay in NY.

Still better than trading the best player in the deal, getting back one of the worst contracts in the league, and receiving no real assets in return.

He's not going to stay. If he plays that card...buying him out is still better than Anderson on the books/team.

No one has any parameters of a deal to discuss anyway. It doesn't appear Houston is offering much more then Anderson. That's not enough for any reason.

I am afraid we will start the season with Melo and this team will be better than expected and screw up the tank. Most of our starters from last year's terrible team are either gone or are bench players now. My fear is also that KP is going to make the 3 year leap and Hernangomez will be a ton better with more minutes in his 2nd year.

Watch us be in the playoff hunt by December and Melo stays. Then we get sweeped in the 1st round he leaves and the tank rules go into effect next year. Ugh. The life of a knick fan.

"I'm afraid our young players are actually gonna be good"

Wow

So, if KP/Willy/THJ/Frank (who are all between 19 and 25) are good enough to lead us to the playoffs, that's a bad thing?

You'd rather stunt the development of the players we do have to have a chance to get someone who might end up being good rather than let our guys grow naturally?

Like, I'm all on board for a top 5 pick, but if we miss out on one and end up top 10 cause our young players are better than expected, that's a good outcome too

Yeah...if they can do it with or preferably without Melo...that's awesome. I can't imagine not wanting the kids to be good enough just for a higher pick. I would LOVE a top 5 pick this year. I would rather the kids be good enough to get to the playoffs and, we just do some real good scouting for the draft. We need to do that every year. Talent can be found later in the draft. Top picks bust. Odds may be better but, whatever. If these kids are good enough to make the playoffs...Damn right I'm rooting for them.

I just wish we could do it without Melo because...he's not here for the long haul so...forget him. I'm tired of his ISO game.

KP is about to become a top 10 player very soon. We need to keep our cap-space open if that happens. just think how devastating it would be if another great player wanted to come to new york to play with KP and we ended up having to give up assets to bring him here like we did with melo. and we'd all be pissed because anderon's shi.tty deal prevented us from having the cap-space to sign an all-star FA outright.
