You guys are crazy if you think Melo's moving to Portland. What does he gain from that exactly?

It's clearly Houston or bust. Time to accept that instead of forging unrealistic destinations.

Seriously, when is Detroit going to jump in this? Harris, Johnson and a future 1st not going to cut it?

all i want is an expiring, so use those half decent assets and get me one. except they can't do that. which lets you know the value of those half decent assets are less than the albatross of leonard's contract.

Melo should really consider Portland. They may not be a premiere team. But they’ll make some significant noice. Let’s just say if GSW suffer significant injuries by playoff any of the top 6 teams (including Portland) can go deep.

Lillard, McCollum, Nurkic and Anthony is a solid group .

that contract is very fair in todays market. Also fits our 2-way young player team concept.

the borough of queens and Greenie aint happy with that comment.

you're capping out the team with role players. that's not how contenders build teams. they pay the stars first, then the role players. do it in the wrong order and you're screwed. think of this scenario, kp really becomes all we hope and guys around the league take notice. some player wants to jump ship and come play with kp but we have no cap space because we used it on harkless and myers leonard. so it's dumb and shortsighted.

I don't want the young guys to have to deal with this situation for 2 more years. That's the just the way I see it. I'm tired of this sh*t. Am I saying that it's a good deal, no, but I don't see any good deal out there to be had. Melo expanding his list or opting out next summer (I don't think he would) are different stories, but I'm just commenting on your initial scenario of Melo opting in and then we buy him out. I would take Ryno and a 1st over that scenario. I really want this to be done with before training camp starts or at least by the start of the regular season. Enough of this every season.

Then you keep him and either he opts out after this year, he has an opt-out or he becomes an expiring. Making a deal just to make a deal is dumb.

my dude, I've clearly stated that I would take Ryno and a 1st over the scenario of Melo opting in next summer...not over him opting out next summer

I don't want to deal with this Melo situation for 2 years, that's where I'm at at this point...it's cool if people disagree

You would rather take trash than deal with Melodrama. Cool. That's your preference. It's still the worst thing this team could do. There is no way that trade is worth it....none. That's all.

Melo won't be here for 2 years. Not even a slight possibility he stays past this year.

we need to get better first before any big time free agent considers us. The Noah/Lee $$$ is the chip we will need to cash in for another superstar down the road. Harkless 10 million ain't costing us a major FA.

We shouldn't settle for less than

Shorter contracts / assets / prospects.

What I've grown accustomed to

Longer deals / little to no assets / vets

Please stop the landslide of terrible transactions by this organization and complete a trade that resembles one done by a competent franchise.

you can't get rid of noah's money. with harkless and having to take leonard, who you can't get rid of, you're paying 20 mill for harkless. you are screwing your cap for 3 more years. it's insane.

you're so gung ho to dump melo that you'll accept almost anything.

we're not making the deal and you'll like it. lock this thread and then ban everyone. make it happen capn'o.

yeah you are right. I said I don't want to be stuck with Andersons deal earlier. but if the additional assets we get aren't enough to move Leonard then we are in the same situation.

Portland already did save a tony of money in moving crabbe so hopefully the deal is Ed Davis and Harkless. I don't believe harkless makes enough money to stop us from adding a marquee free agent but Leonard + harkless would make it difficult.

That's EXACTLY how contenders build teams. Spurs (Green, Mills, etc), Rockets (Ariza, Gordon, to an extent Anderson, Williams, etc), Cavs (Shumpert, JR, Korver, etc).

...You get the point. Harkless is still young, plays within systems, and not expensive at all.

so we should take a bad deal to possibly avoid signing a bad deal next summer ? that's insane. it's not just next summer by the way. it's 3 more years. 40 mill for the combo of noah, harkless, and leonard.
