Push comes to shove, I'd sign Biid the max. Built a team or program around him. By team, favor a win-now outlook. By program, favor a deep C position roster which we are now doing IMO.
It's not like it's easy to sign a star player with capspace. Look at Boston, all the picks and assets and they just ended up with Hayward and Irving.
It's way more likely Biid plays like 7-8 great seasons of 50 to 60 games than a high level star decides to sign with us for 7-8 seasons. And it's not like these high level stars are immune to any injuries.
That said, I'd probably be finding a way to generate another star just in case Biid's health deteriorates. Maybe use the Sac or LAL pick.
Its life. It cant be perfect like 2K but we need to adjust to maximize. Maybe accept Pasecniks or Holmes as C for 20-30 games then have Biid at C for 50-60 games every season for the next 7-8 years.
If Biid is stubborn and asks a max or nothing, then find a cheap C every season. If Biid is cooperative and takes a discount, maybe we can sign a constant C with an average contract.
