After looking back at last year's thread, we clearly should have set up the draft rules going forward. I guess I figured it was pretty standard as to how these are done.
I knew if we opened it up for discussion, it wouldn't go over well because everyone would have their own self interest. So I researched a bit and it sounds like it's standard to do a reverse order with sometimes some sort of lottery for a certain number of spots.
However, for us to establish that lottery cut off NOW for this year isn't fair, because everyone will want the cut off after their team. Even though the strategy for determining lottery teams each year I came up with sounded silly to at least one person, it's random and should fall within a decent range.
But yeah, as mentioned, if the best teams can end up with the top pick, it kind of defeats the purpose of doing it dynasty style.
What we could do, if there is an actual lottery simulator out there, is do one that kind of mirrors the draft, where no one could move down more than like 3 spots, and the odds of getting the top picks went down substantially the better you finished. It certainly shouldn't be completely random like fftoolbox.
We could also make a rule where a team can't have a top 3 pick 3 years in a row or something.
