Taking my girlfriend to her first rockets game tonight (she's from Wisconsin and just moved here this year).

Took her to her first Astros game earlier this year, and so far that has been great luck....hoping it works for the rockets, too!

I get the rule; but that ref was a dumbass for being in that spot.

Right on all counts.

1) That's the type of instigator/chippiness Mario has been known for his whole career going back to his time in Lawrence.
He got what he wanted by baiting Harden into a confrontation that cost the team a crucial possession.

2) The rule is the refs are considered a part of the court. That said, I have never seen a referee so far out of place in all my years involved with the game of basketball. He was LITERALLY in the passing lane of a teams offensive set. He was there like a spot up shooter!
We won't likely ever hear about it but I wonder if the league will penalize that ref for his egregious error there.

3) Regardless of all the tomfoolery at the end, the immutable fact is that the Rockets had a double digit lead in the 4th quarter and still lost. Eric Gordon was the only consistent source of scoring and when he went to the bench the offense died.
Perfect recipe for a loss to a motivated division rival.

The good news is they won't have to wait long for a chance at retribution. They go bear hunting again in 4 days.
