Greg Monroe
If Phoenix buys him out should we go after him and would he have interest in coming here for the season?
He's a very low key stay out of the spotlight kinda guy and might want to come back. Obviously wouldn't pay him big money moving forward but could help us this season I would think.
IDK, seems like something to watch for with our need on a backup center and Phoenix not really wanting him anyways. Just don't want him coming in here slowing things down so he would have to accept that backup low min role.

If hes bought out it shouldn't cost a new team more than a couple mil for the season. Forgot about Boston though as they will go after him and it gives the best chance to up his value for the offseason.

And Boston has that injury money to spend. They'll get the pick of post-trade deadline releases. Not sure he'd want to come back here anyways.

for the min. if we can get him he is a beast backup C. He'd probably want to start somewhere to get his next contract tho.

Re: Greg Monroe
He is an old school center and the game has changed so I'd rather pass on him. I don't think he would be happy coming back and being a backup. Plus, his agent seems pretty crafty at getting Monroe paid, so I just don't see us as an option.

Exactly
for our team, we'd be better off going with Moreland than moose. Our problem isn't offensive weapons its defensive consistency and rim protection and setting good picks. Moose brings non of that
If we could find a way to get back baynes, thats the move we should make

Why would he want to come back here after he went out of his way to leave here? Same coach, same GM.

Baynes is the equivalent or worse than moose on defense.

Baynes has been performing incredibly well in Boston. His advanced defensive numbers are right up near the top of all centers. He's quickly become a fan favorite in Boston. He is obviously playing with a purpose after losing money in FA this past year and is going to make $10+ million next year if he continues doing what he's doing, starting at center for someone.

Wow. I guess I didn’t realize how underappreciated baynes was around here.
He was a very good one on one post defender, who had surprisingly nimble feet given his size. I thought he actually protected the rim surprisingly well. He knows how to put himself in the right position.

That should’ve been this season, but his game has no glitz or glamour. He’s not doing anything we haven’t seen before, but now he’s playing on a team getting national attention.

You don't get points for being able to do the minimum of what your position requires, which is stay in front of your man. Not to mention his production pissed me off when dre would foul out amd he knew he was going to get big minutes and show out, those are the only time he really played hard on both ends.

Baynes isn't going to light up the box score, but even SVG said, he does things that don't show up.
One of the main benefits of Baynes is he's one of the best screeners in the game, defensively he's at worst average in post defense and while not a shot blocker, he does alter shots. Comparing him to moose sh* defense is laughable

that screener thing is overplayed, because yes he can screen to get someone open, but he's hardly an option after the screen. the best screeners in the league make you pick your poison, hes a chuckers best friend.

That is not true whatso ever, your blaming our guards lack of recognition on Baynes. His value is not only that he screens out a player but also that he seals him off and forces help side with his wide body. Yes his size and lack of height limit where the guards can throw it, but in reality, its a matter of the guards finding the passing lanes that are there.

There is 0% change moose comes back here. Seriously. The guy couldn't get out of here fast enough. He didn't want to be part of this team ---- and who could blame him at the time.
Even if he didn't have baggage here, he would be looking for someplace to get major minutes. We obviously couldn't play him and dre together, so that would mean he gets strictly backup C minutes behind a potential all-star. He's not going to go somewhere where he only gets 15 mpg unless there is mop up duty.

I was never terribly wild about young Monroe and I'm certainly not wild about older Monroe. No thanks. The team is playing well right now. Leave it alone.

Re: Greg Monroe
Leuer and boban for Greg??? I would do this.... I would throw a pick into this, too..
I mean Greg is not a great player but as a bench player and especially on an expiring contract... YES YES YES
BUT SUNS WOULD NEVER DO THIS
