So you think Denver refused Bledsoe and decided to take Trey Lyles and the 24th pick instead for 13? That doesn't sound likely, especially considering they were still rumored to be interested later. We will never know, but my guess is the Suns turned it down. I can't imagine the Nuggets preferred Lyles and 24 given all their big men and young guys already.

So you think it is more likely that they valued Bledsoe that highly but were not willing to beat a lottery protected 1st, an expiring, and a 2nd that disappears if not conveyed this year? I would say wanting Lyles, a recent lotto pick with no knee issues on a rookie salary, plus the late first, is more likely than the team simply thinking Bledsoe was once worth a ton to them but then that he is now, after 3 games, somehow not.

I still doubt it. I think Denver was ready to compete, hence the signing of Millsap. They already have a ton of young guys in Harris, Murray, Hernangomez, Beasley, Jokic, etc, that I doubt getting a late first rounder and Lyles trumped Bledsoe, but I guess anything is possible.

Then why not beat that trade now? Faith in Mudiay? It is not like Denver was incapable of beating that Bucks offer rather easily.

What was our alternative? Play Bledsoe last year and end up with a worse pick. Give him the Mac extension that he wanted. Maybe they could have traded him last summer, but when they failed to get Kyrie, they felt the wanted him.

It's about planning ahead. If you sit Bledsoe when he's healthy and he's come to you privately asking for a trade in the offseason, you do what you can to move him before it gets leaked out to the media that he wants out. McD already had first hand experience dealing with Kieff and Dragic. He got good return for both players but he got lucky both times and luck is not something you rely on.

He did not ask for a trade in the off season. He asked for a trade in October, which is a horrible month to try to make trades. It’s fine to make a point, but don’t make it on false facts.

Whiteside's problem sometimes is effort, but even with his lack of effort he is a game changer on defense.
He makes everything around the rim really difficult for his adversaries.

I do not like his personality, but the guy is a terrific rim protector.

His team defends better with him off the court for his career. He chases blocks and hangs others out to dry the same way Rondo chases steals.
