I don't want him at 1b either. But I'd much rather give him and Broxton roster spots than Aguilar, and if that means having a terrible platoon rhb 1b for a while, fine. The point is not that Hernan can do it; the point is that Aguilar is hardly much better.
ETA: Aguilar's dWAR comes close to negating his offense. It's probably not a stretch to think Hernan's defense and baserunning would be borderline elite at 1b, making up for what would obviously be a negative WAR at the position.
