If the season ended today, he is probably the DPOY.
Anyone care to refute that?
OK THEN!
I’ll dispute that. I’d give it to Horford over Smart if the season ends today
It's close either way.
But Horford also got beaten like three times by JJ Barea in crunch time last night.
Smart was better than Horford on defense last night no question about it. I’d still give it to Horford on the season after his performance against that murderers row of talent including Simmons, Giannis and Zinger in which he shut them all down.
I agree with nearly everything you’re saying about Smart btw, he’s absolutely a net positive at this point despite his shooting and his knack for big plays in the crunch can’t be denied but at the same time when you talk about how our offense is ranked so poor and might become a factor as the season goes on, you can’t ignore Smarts struggles from the field either. Unless they put more on Tatum’s plate with the second unit, Smart is the guy and our offense bogs down to nothing when he and Roziers shots aren’t falling.
They have the DPE and a roster slot to bring in another guy, I’d expect it sometime around the all star break tbh. Smart isn’t going anywhere, and if he does we’re a worse team for it
