No one wanted to trade for him when he was in Detroit. Milwaukee's been trying to trade him for a long time, again, no takers. Why would there be demand all of a sudden? At this point everybody in the league knows what he is. And nobody wants him. His only value is being an expiring.
I think playing him is only hurting us by playing crazy lineups (Monroe/Chandler) and more importantly taking away PT from the younger guys when at this current state of the franchise this is all we should be doing.

That's what I was thinking. Playing guys for the sole reason of "showcasing" them is dumb. People know what Monroe is. If it's pretty certain he won't be around after this year, and he wants out, buy the guy out.

It's not helping anyone to keep guys around that don't want to be here. The most they'd probably get is a second round pick or something and I think we're good there.

I'm sure they would find minutes for him.
Assuming offers are out there, Philly should take the best deal they can for a team out West. Even if it's for a crappy 2nd.

Much as I'd like to see him in Phoenix, I don't trust us to be able to develop him.

You never know. Maybe he's good friends with Booker. I usually don't put much stock in that, but with a guy in his situation, maybe he would. Who knows how much time he'd get in Boston? They have a pretty good thing going right now. They might not want to try and insert a guy who isn't really needed.

I bet Len would actually be a pretty good player had we not tried to make him something he isn't for 3 years straight.
I see the same thing happening with Bender at the moment and I don't like it. He's basically being used in only two ways on offense; standing around the 3 point line for a catch and shoot and as a traditional big in the sense of hovering around the high post or between elbow and 3 pt line either catching the ball and just passing it on right away without a move/dribble and/or setting blocks (kinda like Chandler minus the inside play).
He's got so much potential because he has guard play in him. He could punish so many big guys defending him and when he actually does drive he looks very good. His floater/hook that he busted out two games in a row earlier this season is money.
We should have him attack the rim at least twice a game. Dribble, set up plays, be actively involved. Bender has the BBIQ to not go into tunnel vision like Jackson does (and literally turn over the ball 9 out of 10 times) and pass the ball out when there's no going anywhere.
I could go on and on but I think you know what I mean.

TL;dr
I think we're totally wasting Bender's potential by seriously misusing him.

Part of the reason he probably doesn't drive a lot is because he's smart and sees a clogged paint area and those others who drive anyway end up getting their shot blocked half the time (Jackson, James) but with more shooters and floor spreaders it would help.

More than anything I just don't see any hope with this organization. Drafts, deals, signings, player development, coaching, ownership, culture, plan for the future. No time soon will the Suns come out on top in any of these categories.
Not since the early 80's has the team felt like such a loser.

Did you you not watch that sweet Lindsey Hunter led teams with Michael Beasly balling out? :D

That was a MUCH more depressing roster and outlook.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

That was coming straight off the Nash years. Had no clue had bad things would be going for years on end.Was used to Suns making a big splash in free agents and trades.

The big problem coming off those years (other than not moving on from Nash earlier) was that we had sold or traded away (to dump Thomas) all of our first round picks for years so we had no young players to build on from the future, so we had to start from scratch, and of course we started with Kendall Marshall.

Also posted the news in the Around the NBA thread;

What did they expect with this roster especially with Conley being out? It can't just have been the Gasol benching in the 4th last game...Are they ultimately tearing it down now and start rebuilding? That'd be horrible for our already diminished odds at a top 5 pick...

People like Popovich's coaching too. I think no coach is good for us.

Also, I don't think people liked Watson's coaching. They liked his relations with players.

Apparently, NBA community is angry about the situation and supporting Fizdale. I think hiring him would fix our image in media a bit.

I do not think we are an attractive job for experienced coaches. I would want more control over the player/roster situation, considering your future lies with McD and his diabolical dealings. It seems to be commonplace for new hire coaches to demand that leverage. Would anyone here balked at giving Thibs the deal he had in Minny? Its probably what VanGundy would want.... not that he's high on my list. (Hell, I dont even have a list)
What ? Me Worry ?
