We have options to make some moves and improve the roster, all those picks are useless if we stay pat because we are not gonna draft six or seven guys next year.
IMO this team needs an starting PG, and an starting PF ASAP.
Yes...Bender and Chriss are awful, both can play a good game from time to time but they are terrible and they do not deserve to play more than a few minutes per game. Both are getting humiliated so many times playing against starting players.
I'm seriously thinking that they can be out of the league in a couple of years, like Thomas Robinson (Chriss) or Tskitishvili (Bender). Hopefully not.
We can upgrade the C position too.
If some really good big becomes available we need to trade for him. Players like DeAndre, Drummond or Gasol are 10 times better than what we have at C, one of them at our roster would be an amazing influx of talent.
So...we need talented players at three positions. One at a time, but we need to begin NOW.
Agree 100%.
Disagree 100%. Stay the course and finish bottom 5 in the league and draft well. It's easy. Yes, it sucks that we have to wait until this summer and next year to improve, but that is the sad reality of the situation.
It looks like Chriss is going to bust. It happens. I wanted him to be the second coming of Amare as much as anyone - but he just isn't. There are better players in college right now that will be available with our draft picks this summer. Wendell Carter is better and he isn't ranked top 10 in the current 2018 draft class!
Bender may still turn out. Jackson... maybe a nice role player? Booker is awesome. Ulis is too short. Len is gone and the product of a really BAD draft class.
Speaking of draft classes... every year there is a pool of available NBA talent. Sometimes that pool of talent isn't very good or deep. Maybe there are 1, 2 or 3 individual players who can change a franchise in a given year? Sometimes there are no good players... sometimes you get lucky (Giannis and Booker)... some years the draft is really deep...
I am banking on the 2018 draft to be a very, very good class. Dare I say generational? I think we are 8-10 deep in terms of franchise players. Bagley, Ayton, Porter (hurt), Wendell Carter, Jaren Jackson, McCoy, Donic, Knox, Sexton, Bridges, Robert Williams... Mitchell Robinson will be a steal late.
Think about this... how many of these current college kids would have been drafted ahead of Fultz, Ball, Tatum and Jackson? I submit that these 4 top 2017 players would have been bottom 10 in 2018. Wow. All aboard the TANK!
