Not that Tatum is particularly deficient in this area but if you start to feature him as a scorer his athletic/measurable mehness is going to show up pretty often. For a guard, Fultz is one of the longer ones, for a SF, Tatum isn't. Both are very advanced in terms of technique but at the end of the day Fultz went number one overall for a reason, and that reaason is because he was the best prospect, not because Colagnelo is a dunderhead and Ainge ("I drafted Fab Melo! And Joe Johnson! But dealt the latter! I haven't come up with a legitimate long-term answer at center for a decade!" etc) a genius.
Those griping about the trade to get Fultz certainly have a right to do so but given a number of you wanted Josh Jackson and Lonzo Ball (and bleated on about it for months) with our draft pick the rest of us reserve the right to pillory you if you even utter a bleep about Jayson Tatum in this thread.
For the Celtic fans reading this I think Danny Ainge is a very good GM but he's made his share of blunders over the years, so those putting forward Tatum and the possible Laker pick/Kings pick as a sign of genius probably just have a selective memory. Good GM? Yes. Genius: no.
Does it count as selective memory if you remember that Ainge got the Celtics job a year after Joe Johnson was traded to Phoenix?
