Might still see it announced later.

Both Cole and Houston would benefit greatly.
Cole would probably be an 18 game winner.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Starlin Castro has requested a trade from the Marlins.
Many thought the Marlins would quickly flip Castro to another team after acquiring him from the Yankees as part of the Giancarlo Stanton trade, but that obviously hasn't happened yet and MLB.com's Joe Frisaro wrote last weekend that Miami might wind up keeping the 27-year-old second baseman. That clearly isn't sitting well with Castro, who doesn't want to be part of another rebuilding process like he was in his early days with the Cubs. Castro is due $10.857 million in 2018 and $11.857 million in 2019 with a $16 million club option for 2020.

I feel for those Marlins fans in South Florida, they've been sold false promises for the better part of the past decade and are now really getting screwed over by Jeter trying to make them look like a minor league team in terms of both payroll and talent.

Brewers get Yelich for 4 prospects, including the Brewers top overall prospect OF Lewis Brinson(#6 OF prospect on MLB.com). Miami also acquires the Brewers 6th ranked prospect 2b/SS Isan Diaz(#4 2b prospect on MLB.com), Brewers 14th ranked prospect OF Monte Harrison and right handed pitching prospect Jordan Yamamoto, not ranked in their top 30.

Brinson is the 18th overall ranked prospect in the top 100. So yeah they were shooting for the moon asking for Acuna, #1 overall.

Brewers also sign OF Lorenzo Cain to a 5 yr deal.

Suddenly the Brewers outfield is crowed. Ryan Braun, Keon Broxton, Domingo Santana, Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain.

Brewers in touch with Arrieta, Cobb

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Brewers have "been in contact" with Jake Arrieta and Alex Cobb.
Heyman says the "prime target" for the Brewers is Yu Darvish, but they're prepared to pounce on one of the other top free agent starters should Darvish ultimately land a deal that reaches beyond Milwaukee's comfort zone. Lance Lynn would presumably come into consideration as well. All of this signals the continuation of an impressive late-offseason push from the fast-rising Brewers, who recently acquired outfielders Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain. They've even been floated as potential suitors for Rays ace Chris Archer.

Yu Darvish is just waiting for the LA Dodgers to offer up what other teams like Minnesota is offering. If I was Minnesota I would pull my offer since this has been going on for weeks but media outlets continue to report that Minny has offered him a contract. It's getting old.

He has some great options for his future:
The Cubs, Brewers, Dodgers, and Yankees

But, Sunny LA seems to be his first choice.

According to Darren Wilson of ESPN 1500 in Minneapolis, the Twins have submitted a formal offer to free agent starter Yu Darvish.
The exact specifics of the offer are unknown, but Wolfson says on the latest episode of his podcast that it is believed to be four or five years in length. He also mentions that the Twins are reluctant at this point to push that offer to six years. Earlier on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that Darvish has "several" offers on the table worth more than $100 million, and USA Today's Bob Nightengale mentioned that a number of them are in the five-year range. We could finally be seeing some progress with the top starting pitcher on the market, and Minnesota might have a real shot here. The Cubs, Brewers, Dodgers, and Yankees are also thought to be in pursuit of the 31-year-old right-hander.

Yu Darvish signs a 6 year/$150 mil deal with the Cubs. This should finally open up the FA market and will hopefully result in some signings in the next week.

Good for Darvish.
It's nice to have him off the market now.

Even with the Stankees getting Stanton, I still think the Astros are the favorites in the AL for the World Series this year. They have a pitching rotation to match up against the NY mashers, and I think the Astros lineup would give lots of problems to the NY rotation which isn't nearly as good.

I agree with you about Houston. I told a few people this weekend that I believe Houston has the edge of the Yankees.
