how do you propose we do this? we tried to get Jimmy Butler before Chicago shipped him off and we apparently didn't/couldn't offer enough to make it happen.
Im assuming we didn't offer Walker in those talks. Thats the only way we would get Leonard.
It sounds totally crazy, but there's a couple reasons I wouldn't even do that.
1) What is going on with Kawhi's quad injury? They've held him out basically the entire season for something that was seemingly a minor injury. Till we know what's going on there, the fact that the Spurs would even entertain such a trade should be a red flag.
2) We have a star who wants to be here, and we definitely don't know that about Leonard. Even if he gets healthy and he's 100% normal next season, there's a real chance that we only get one year of him and he's gone.
3) This team without Kemba is a complete dumpster fire. If Kawhi's injury isn't setting off warning sirens, we would have to clean house in order to get him, probably a future pick too, meaning Kawhi would probably be playing with Dwight, scrubs, probably MCW at PG, a dysfunctional coach and FO, and that's it. After 6.5 years winning 55-65 games a year with the **** Spurs organization, think Kawhi is going to like being the only player worth a **** on a 30 win team? Nope, he's gone July 1st, 2019.
It just doesn't make any kind of sense to move Kemba for a better star that becomes a free agent in the next 3-4 years.
