He's never averaged over 6.8 assists per game and he's shooting 43.6 percent from the floor in what is supposed to be his best season ever. I know he's a terrific player and is a great scorer, but I'd like my point guard to be more playmaker than scorer. He's kind of like Gilbert without the drama.

The era of point guards being primarily assist men is over. Good point guards are now ball-handling combo guards. Is Kyrie Irving more of a playmaker than scorer? Is James Harden? Is Steph Curry? Russell Westbrook? Lebron James? Isaiah Thomas? Damian Lilliard? Tony Parker? Kyle Lowry?

Basically, you're better off with your primary ball-handler being an efficient 23 and 7 guy rather than an efficient 17 and 10 guy. And either one of those guys is better than an inefficient 20 and 10 guy.

So Kawhi is allegedly available. What about this trade? http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y883qphg
I love Otto, but ballers like Kawhi don't become available that often.

WAS trades Otto, Gortat, and 2 1st rd picks (1 protected) to SAS for Kawhi, Gasol and Forbes

Nate, I understand but I'm still old school when it comes to point guards. I don't need a guy to score 25ppg to win big even though many do it. And I get it, McCollum is a combo guard. But Beal is not even though Brooks is pushing him to be one. Harden is putting up big assist numbers as well. So does Curry, So does Westbrook. Not Kyrie but he's a freak because he\''s an incredible ballhandler. Tony Parker played with HOFers in Ginobili, Duncan and a great player when healthy in Kawhi. John is playing with Markieff Morris.

I'll take Wall over Dame, not obviously over Steph, Russ, or Harden. When he's dialed in (1/2 the games this year?), he's an incredible passer that makes his team better.

why would we do that? the upgrade from Otto to 1.5 years of Kawhi is two 1st rounders and Gortat?

I'd offer Beal and Otto while taking back Parker and Gasol's bad contract to make the money work.

Umm Kawhi is a better on offense and defense plus Gasol is not exactly a slouch. He can man the C position till we can figure out what to do with Mahinmi.

Mahinmi, Frazier, OP and 2 1st rd picks for Kawhi, Gasol, Gay, 2nd rd pick

Kawhi is a top 5 player in the league. I'd trade anyone on this team for him in a second.

When healthy, he's the best two-way player in the league. But that leg is a big question mark now.

Agreed. I'd be more than willing to take that risk, though.

I would be curious how much better Otto would be on the Spurs.

No one is debating that. But Otto and two 1sts is a massive haul.

I’d do that with Oubre instead probably

I love Otto, but him and two 1sts isn't even close to fair value, let alone a massive haul. We're talking about a 26-year-old superstar MVP candidate. They could ask for Otto AND Oubre along with picks and I'd gladly take it.

Why are we talking about trading for Kawhi? Because ESPN wanted Clickbait?

It's more fun than having to focus on our current dumpster fire of a team :)

I wonder what Cavs would want for KLove. I would trade Otto and his max deal without blinking. Oubre could get extra minutes.

No. You don't want Love. He's a player without a position in today's game. He's too slow to play PF and he doesn't protect the rim well enough in help defense to play center.
