Presser coming today at noon PST.
Darren Rovell of ESPN later reported that McMahon will announce the creation of the league at a news conference at 3 p.m. ET. Alpha Entertainment confirmed the conference.
In December, WWE sent a statement to freelance reporter David Bixenspan saying McMahon had established and was funding an entity called Alpha Entertainment with an eye toward investing in multiple sports and entertainment areas, including professional football.
How long does it last this time?
Bigger question for me is if Vince and/or the powers that be learned anything from the previous debacle that makes it a viable enterprise this time around. Because that thing was a complete train wreck.
I dont think its possible, what with the CFL and AFL already in existence. The problem was they tried everything so fast, the teams didnt have time to get quality coaches/personnel/gameplans going. And that made for barely watchable, barely interesting football.
Now that fantasy is 10000x more prominent than it was in 2001, I have no idea how this idea gets off the ground. Will be limited interest in XFL fantasy, and that is a HUGE drive for the NFL. It will lack the loyalty ties that college football and the NFL enjoy. And of course it will generate absolutely no heat on any legitimate sports network. Its just throwing money away again, part 2
