RoLo, Holiday, Pels 1st to CLE for Shump, Smith, BKN #1...I'd take back Thompson if they include their 1st too.

The Knicks announced on Friday that Joakim Noah and the team had reached a mutual decision and he will not be with the Knicks "until further notice."

RoLo, Holiday, Grant for Willy, Jo and NY #1

Jo is just pissed because he's so far back in the rotation. I know he's not who he was, but I could live with 10 min per night in a back-up role. I think his issue was with Jimmy Hollywood. For that 1st, I would take my chances for a few years. If you average out his salary with another rookie-scale guy, it's not so bad.

Hypothetically if we acquired Noah would we be starting him at C? I mean that would help the tank and make him happy, no? He's definitely less well adjusted than RoLo.

This was the trade I'm trying to put together, but I'd like to somehow have them take back Felicio's contract too.

But boy, if we could pull it off, we have a good shot of landing 2 of the top 7 prospects in the draft.

If we cant get another 1st rounder for RoLo and/or Holiday,
Id offer Cleveland

Rolo for Shumpert and Cedi and Bulls have the rights to swap their BKN pick

We will very likely be better pick, but if BKN move to 3rd, 2nd or 1st we may be one or two picks worse.
Call 911, the tank is dying alive, tank you very much

This part of the reason I want no part Noah. Guy still thinks he can play when in reality he is a complete scrub now. He is a cancer now.

How about a swap or the Cavs 1st? So, if BKN pick ends up higher, we swap and don’t get the Cavs, or if we don’t swap we just get the Cavs pick. That way we at least get something for taking on Shumpert’s deal.

I would LOVE to have a crack at Aaron Gordon, who the Magic are apparently shopping, only issue is he's distinctly a 4.

Gordon is pretty blah right now.

Any perceived upside is almost definitely cancelled out by his looming contract.

I can see why the Magic are shopping him.

I like him, he's shown that he can develop a 3 point shot, athletic, and looks like a good system player to me. He'd look good in Hoiberg's system, especially if he can continue to develop that 3 point shot. My only cons is that he's due for extension very soon, and I don't think we want to commit our cap space to him yet. But we have to decide on Portis too very soon, knowing our FO, they'll probably extend him to a contract similar to Niko's. I'd rather give that money to Gordon.

I'm still a bit curious with Hezonja, I think he's done in Orlando. Do you think a change of scenery and coaching would get him back on track? Hoiberg does strike me as someone who can fix broken talent like Hezonja. I really liked Hezonja coming into the draft during his draft year.

Felicio's contract isn't a big deal. It expires by 2021 when the elite FA are available so I'd rather keep him and not have it effect our return.

IMO the plan is to get as many draft picks and young players while keeping enough cap space available to try and sign Anthony Davis or Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021.

NO pick, Lopez, Holiday and Grant for Shumpert, Smith and Nets pick.

If the Nets get a top 3 pick, Cleveland keeps it, we get the NO pick back plus Cleveland's own pick and a future first.

Could we then max out Capella?

Dunn, Lavine, Oubre, Lauri, Capella - plus our #1 is a "rebuild done"

If we want to target Oubre, we should do it this off-season. Don’t bring him while we’re trying to maximize our pick. Now this summer, if Bulls do Pels pick plus asset for Oubre, I would be ok.

Since Paxson said he's not going to rush into FA, I really think we're going to carry some bad salary for a few years. We've got quite a bit of space to work with.....

2018-2019 Salaries

Lopez-14.4 (he may be dealt, but I'd guess the salary here is still on the books from what's acquired)
Asik-11.3
Felicio-8.5
Holiday-4.4(same as Lopez)
Dunn-4.2
Markkanen-4.5
Payne-3.3
Valentine-2.3
Grant-2.6(same as Lopez and Holiday)
Portis-2.5
Zipser-1.5
LaVine-

That's 59.5, plus 15-20 mill for LaVine. Granted, some of the names may change, but the salaries probably won't.

C Lopez, Asik, Felicio
PF Markkanen, Portis
SF Valentine, Zipser
SG LaVine, Holiday
PG Dunn, Grant, Payne

So, you've probably got most of next years roster accounted for. You'll see a trade or 2. Lopez, Holiday, and Grant aren't likely to be here next year, or at least not long into next year. You'll likely have 2 rookies added here. Potentially even a 3rd. But, its hard to add 3 to a roster, might be better served pushing any more picks into the future. Or use them for a trade up in the draft.

In FA, about all I can see being added personally, is a veteran backup PG. And considering you've got guys to deal off in Lopez, Holiday, and Grant, it could come via return. Or it could come via the 20 mill of space we've got to absorb bad money.

Not even sure why I wrote this out like this. I guess just to see exactly where we stand currently.

You've got 3 guys in your core, with Markkanen, LaVine, and Dunn.

You've got Portis and Valentine as role players.

You've got a top draft pick coming and a mid first rounder too

You've got Lopez, Holiday, and Grant to trade for bad money and picks/assets

You've got 20 mill in cap space to absorb bad money and more picks

Felicio is the only bad contract currently on the books, after this year.(Asik is easy to move for worse money)

The next week, draft, and FA period are ridiculously important, but wow.....This team is in excellent shape at this exact moment.

We’d have to offer too much in return. Probably our pick plus Lavine... something like that. I prefer to stay the development course with our young core and see who we can add in the next two drafts.

How about:

RoLo, Holiday, Grant for Crowder, Frye, Shumpert, CLE 1st?

Works in checker. I think Crowder is a good buy-low guy.

They're not giving expiring contracts and the BKN pick IMO.. We have to give them 1) a draft pick, 2) some win now talent, 3) some cap relief to have any chance at the pick I think.

Plus they need Frye to stretch the floor with Love out.

Dellavedova, Teletovic, Maker, and their 2020 1st for Lopez and Holiday.

Return to Chicago Bulls
