It's also too late for us to tank with the recent winning streak.

Keep Kemba if all we're getting is the BKN pick.

its never too late to tank

So... tank for the 8th instead of 10th. Or are we just gambling that we're going to win the lottery?

I have to agree with 316 based on this...

https://247sports.com/college/duke/Article/NBA-Draft-2018-Big-Board-20-includes-Trae-Young-Marvin-Bagley-DeAndre-Ayton-114400846

Minus any moves we are picking 10-12 anyway. I'd rather take a chance on Carter falling in this scenario, Mikal Bridges screams Vonleh to me. I could be wrong about him but maybe someone else scoops him up before our range and someone else rises also pushing Carter, Sexton or the likes down to us. Porter is also a candidate to fall due to medicals but otherwise a slam dunk Top 5 pick! There is also a possibility our new GM could make a draft day trade up into the Top 8 and keep Kemba!

We are screwed. As I suspected RealGM headline quotes a league GM saying the market is packed with sellers and few buyers. The only way we’re trading is if there is a horrible deal where we give up way too much for little return. Sad part is, thanks to Cho and company, they will have to give up talent this summer for nothing, and maybe worse, to escape luxury tax land.

Well, we aren't screwed because we have one asset that not many teams are looking to be giving away.

Kemba is severely underpaid in a capped out market. Teams looking to improve will not find anyone near his level at this price.

I look at Philly and think they could really use someone like Kemba, but there has to be other teams out there ready to shell out a lot of draft picks to grab someone like Kemba in the current market.

As the article mentioned, this cap tightness will go away in 2019,2020 when these giant contracts start to fall off the books, making it easier to sign Kemba to a max at that time.

But if we could only deal Kemba and maybe a minor player, we’re still stuck with Batum. Dwight could really help somebody but seriously doubt he goes anywhere. The decision to deal Kemba for a draft pick (and I think we’d only get one that possibly lands in the lotto) is pennies on the dollar. Not even worth it UNLESS we are committed to tank so we have two lottery picks, plus a full makeover via firing Cliff and Cho. Lottery success requires tremendous luck that we almost never have.

Alternative is same old team, except shedding salary for nothing to escape tax, creating a worse team with a likely middling draft pick, then back on the treadmill.

This ^ is why we’re screwed.

Kemba and nic for nets pick, it, Jr and Thompson.

One positive of trading both Kemba and Nic is it guarantees immediate playing time for both Monk and Bacon. But, I'm not really on board with making a trade to tank. Going through 3-4 years of hell isn't what we need. That's why I'm all for trading our first this year + someone (marvin + mkg) for Gordon or Love. If that scenario is possible. Sure, it probably means we are in the luxury in the future, but it also probably gives us our best team ever. To lose Kemba is going to be a huge blow to this franchise.

Well, if we were to do a big deal, this would be it. Getting huge cap relief sooner, a sure lottery pick this summer, and a clear restart would get us moving past the dead end we are at. Ironically the players coming in might actually make the tank more difficult, especially if Isaiah mimics Kemba scoring.

IT looked awful the other day when I watched him. He'd be a great tank commander.

Would anyone argue that for the money, Kemba is the best PG in the NBA?

If so, it'd make sense for Kemba to go where ever Lebron is going next year. It'd give him the best path to a Championship next year.

Meh, they'll be Seattle's problem by the time the cap opens up.

Wonder if we'd get a better package to trade Kemba in the offseason once free agent signings happen.

They will trade Kemba and Batum, save a minimal amount of money then draft two busts this summer before letting IT walk. One bust will be a solid G-Leaguer next year and the other will be dealt for a second-rounder next July. Cho will be fired once it is far too late to salvage a franchise here. Bank on it.
