As I said the other day, I'm obviously biased with this trade due to the possibility of having a Spaniard playing in Charlotte, but I think that we won the trade. As you have said, we do not have a good record with 2nd round picks (either with who we pick or an immediate selling) and Willy is better, and capable of being way better, than JoB.

Another trade must be in the works, though. I would bet on Howard, as _Tijo_ said. With regards to Willy, he is not the lazy player someone said before. With the national team, he is pure effort and really helped Spain in our latest championships as a replacement to(or playing alongside) Pau. Of course, the NBA is not the same and perhaps, after last year success, he gave for granted that he was going to play, but still 23 and good work ethic. Hope he thrives here :)

Hope I can now buy a Hornets jersey in Spain.

Ive always liked his skill set. My only concern is the Knicks fans saying he came into the season out of shape and got beat out for a rotation spot by Kyle O'Quinn.

He looked good in the Eurobasket, though, but perhaps afterward he was careless with his shape before training camp. I think it was more of a mental block when he saw himself behind O'Quinn and Kanter arriving. Hope he gets PT and improves on NBA defense here

Said it on the trade board and on reddit, but I'll say my piece here as well.

Two months ago, this deal would've made sense. Cody was down and we didn't have a backup center. Now Cody is back, we have two centers and the power forwards worthy of minutes and now we fork over what may end up as two valuable 2nd rounders for someone who will be our fifth big this year and next? There has to be another move coming because this makes no real sense with our current roster.

Not sure why we did this and nor am I a fan of this move. I wonder if cho is going to try and trade away our future since he knows he out after this year. Rod higgins is somewhere playing golf in the snow

This.

Cody is barely back and on a minutes restriction ... and we were all thinking he could have easily been out again for a while after the Denver game. Marvin is down too, so Frank isn't going to be able to play as many spot minutes at C. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

And Dwight will be gone after his contract is up. Makes sense to be developing guys for that day.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

In the history of the Bobcats/Hornets, have we ever had a 2nd round pick turn out as good as Willy? I'll even include the ones we picked and then traded away right away. Let's look at our history:

Bernard Robinson Jr?
Ryan Hollins?
Kyle Weaver?
Derrick Brown?
Robert Vaden?
Jeremy Tyler?
Jeffery Taylor?
Dwight Powell?
Juan Pablo Vaulet?
Frank Jackson?
Dwayne Bacon?

I'm totally fine with taking two of our future seconds and getting someone who can play and contribute. Now we need to get our roster more balanced.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

Great, who's going to take shots against the grain of the offense now?

I'm guessing that Charlotte has wanted Hernangomez. Especially seeing as we made a draft day trade http://www.nba.com/nets/nets-acquire-four-new-players-draft-night We sent the 39 to Brooklyn, Willy was taken 35th.

I like the trade, and I don't think it means anyone else is being moved. Wouldn't be a bad thing to make other moves though

I just think they saw all they can in O'Bryant, and don't really value 2nds.

trading 2 seconds for a C is so Cho, at least he can't overpay Willy until 2020 and hopefully he would get fired before that

seriously what a waste

Eh eh eh KOQ is one of the better backup centers in the league. Getting beat out for a rotation spot by him isn’t a embarrassment.

This is a good trade because even if we did keep our 2nd round picks we’d only be hoping to draft someone as good as Hernangomez with them.

2nd rounders to this team have literally never been valuable. Half the time they help pay off gambling debts.

Hernangomez, viewed from a vacuum, is a great acquisition. But if it means Dwight is the trade chip being shipped off with Kemba...

they've been good about not trading top 35 2nds because those are essentially late 1sts in terms of value on even cheaper contracts. It's the mid 2nds that hold no value to them. If we trade Kemba, those are very early 2nds we're giving away. We will be at the bottom till 2021 barring some uncharacteristic stroke of luck for this franchise.

I like this from a value standpoint for the Hornets, but the fit is a bit weird it seems.

I am down for this, especially if it means trading Kaminsky. In any case, welcome to North Carolina, Senor Hernangomez!

Like B.O.B. said another move has to be coming. Please don't be Kemba!

Billy has potential to be a double double player. Decent passer. Weak defender. Great footwork and touch around the basket. More finesse than physical but, not necessarily soft. Will complain if he doesn't play. He wouldn't shut up in NY.

He could be pretty good player but, we never gave him a shot. He plays well when given minutes most nights. His per 36 numbers are great.

I'm sad to see him go. I wish Johnny Who had some upside because I read the Knicks will start him if they move Beasley.
