Russell Wilson might end up being the first $200 million dollar QB. Astounding.

$200M... FULLY GUARANTEED!!!

That’s the scary part.

Heck...I'd be all for it too, if there wasn't this thing called a "Cap". Paul Allen could basically write him a blank check & it wouldn't matter.

Yeah. That cap thing is already a problem when it comes to partially guaranteed contracts. This could be a tipping point if the Jets are stupid enough to do it.

If this happens, every QB that's been signed in the past 2 years is on the sweetest of sweetheart deals, and the markets/gaudy contract #s for guys like AJ McCarron will go directly into the toilet.

Somewhere, Case Keenum's pants just got tighter

It's tough, because there are only a handful of QBs actually worth that kind of cap hit...but without at least an average QB (which I believe Cousins is), your team isn't going anywhere, and it's really difficult to find that true franchise QB in the draft, because those guys only come along every so often. So for teams that just don't have a viable option at QB, what do they do? Just keep going into the draft hoping that this is the year they get their franchise QB, or do they overpay a QB that's proven that they can win you games, but has also proven that they're not elite? It stops you from surrounding this average QB with the talent necessary to win it all, but it also stops you from being a terrible team that keeps hoping to cash in at the draft, which is even worse when you realize that a lot of these bad teams are partly in that position because they suck at drafting.

Drafting is one thing, player development is another and the coaches has to see the players weakness and strength. Look at Foles, he was good for us that one year then bomb with the Rams and couldn’t do anything in KC. Pederson called plays to Foles strength and he succeeded, it all comes down to the coaches. Too many coaches wants to force the player to play to the coaches style instead of vice versa.
