From afar with all the national team stuff it almost seems like Australia is trying to back Ben into a corner where he looks like a jerk if he doesn't participate. I don't get the sense that there's much of a collaborative back and forth. Maybe I'm wrong.

Hard to believe that he hasnt been consulted as an event of this magnitude would require the support of the state government and I doubt that they'd commit without some assurances

Why would they get any assurances though? The fact they are playing the US team should be enough to sell out the game... it's not all about Ben Simmons although I get 80% of the crowd will be bandwagoners there to see him... which deep down will make me kinda chuckle inside if he doesn't turn up.

It's fairly normal for Australia to play the USA in lead up games to the World Cup and Olympics... this is nothing new. It is just in the past the games have tended to be played in the US or Europe as that is where the world championships or Olympics have always been played.

This time the world cup is in China so it makes more logical sense for the game to be played in Australia which is closer geographically than the US.

Put it this way I saw the promos for the game released by Basketball Australia and newspapers already showing images of Lebron, Curry and Durant. I can guarantee they've seeked no assurances from those players that they will be in Australia for this game because I can almost guarantee they won't be.

If people buy tickets expecting Simmons and co to be there and they choose not to.... they should blame themselves for getting their hopes up not the players.

Yeah, had a look at the tickets on line and at $1000 aud for good seats it is a huge risk if you are a casual supporter and want to see a particular player, whether if he LBJ, Simmons or Curry. Throw in the fact that the court will be a temporary dro-in in the middle of a afl field and you start to question the value. If you are not up close, forget it.
I think I’ll wait until I can catch a game in the states.

Yeah I think its a massive mistake. A 50,000 seat stadium with 60,000 configuration for basketball sounds nice and all in theory... but it's not a purpose built basketball stadium so the seating is not tiered. When you are 80m away from the action you will need binoculars to see anything.

Unless I could get within 20 rows I wouldn't bother and even then it's going to be awful. The first 50 or so rows all look to be at ground level. Are they going to expect people not to stand up?

I saw Ed Sheeran at Optus Stadium a few weeks back... 60,000 people there and we had expensive seats up in the 1st level to the side of the stadium. I could barely see the guy with the naked eye on stage... and wouldn't go to a Stadium concert again... and my seat would be better than 90% of the seats they have planned for the basketball.

Depends who is playing. Saw ACDC at a stadium and it was awesome. Yeah, I wouldn't waste my money on that basketball match. Expensive and you will get a sore neck looking up at the TV screens constantly.

I truly hope that Ben Simmons will work with an extern shooting/skills trainer this summer, he's up to ~300 FTA at the moment so the 57% he's shooting seems like a good indicator of his current capabilities. Absolutely inexcusable since he shot 10% better with the same amount of attempts in college.

I'm sure a lot of research and effort has been put into his new shot, but it's not working and it deserves more attention from the local media imo. They really ****ed it up considering they had 1.5 years to work on his shooting motion.

He's a satirist, he makes homer threads and exaggerates everything in them, it's what he does. I'm not even sure he's a Celtics' fan tbh.

Should be at the tennis stadium

Charge more for better seats

This is like going to the boxing at Suncorp in Brisbane - bit of fun but couldn’t see much

Wow that is so not a basketball arena. To think I complain about the Wells Fargo Center having hockey sight lines.

If you guys ever make it over here you should go see a city game at the Palestra, now there's a place made to watch basketball.

Congrats but don’t break-up when during the play-offs.

Yup. Did also think the same thing. He should learn from Jojo and not take these relationships seriously given their status.

Send him to Fultz shooting coach.

Ben’s 2nd unit has been running a lot of our version of Spain PnR that has been successful.

We run it with Ben, Dario and Biid and sometimes Ben, Biid and JJ with our starting unit.

Problem lies with Biid’s 2nd unit which relies mostly on Biid’s post play.

There were plays where he could have shot the ball in the post but the cutters were just too open to pass up.

Definitely starting to see the game slow down for Ben. Its absolutely crazy to me that 16, 8 and 8 with elite defense is Ben's floor. My mind just goes off when I start thinking about how good he can become with a mid range game and better free throw percentages.
