Olynyk is starting to get underrated these last 2 years. Highly skilled but a bit inconsistent. Never really wanted the Celtics to let go of him but they had to for Hayward and he was going to get paid. He’s a good solid player who makes things easier on offense for teams. Glad to see him balling for Miami.

Not top 10, but the guy is crazy underrated. Thought about starting a thread of what his ceiling is. He can shoot the 3, he can drive, he can post, solid rebounder, really good creator/passer which most people overlook. He has a number of 5+ assist games. When he's good, he's all-star caliber. For whatever reason, he just seems to lack consistency. I know he's been more consistent with Miami, but still it isn't quite there. He's definitely one of the most skilled players no one talks about.

He has easily been the Heat's most important player this season. Consider these numbers:

6th among centers in RPM(#3 in offensive RPM)
Has a BPM score of 3(the impact of a star)
The Heat with KO on the floor outscore opponents by 7.4 points per 100 possessions.

Also, in the month of March he's averaging 13.5 PPG 6.4 REB 4.7 AST to 1.6 TO a game.

Yes, and you forgot the FER, DST, BPS, TBF, RST and FET stats, those don't go his way.

I would have thought Nurkic would be on the list ahead of him. I know I would take him over Olynyk.

Since Olynyk plays some 4 I think we can include AD, P. Gasol, Aldridge, and K. Love as well.

I would take Adebayo instead. Let alone whiteside.
He deserves credit though.
The Heat rotation at C is impressive at least.

Because you're justifying it with on/off, RPM stats which do not measure individual performance. Data is only good as its source, and the source for on/off stats are team based. Trying to tease out influence of the other 4 players on the floor is debatable at very best.

http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/year/2014/sort/RPM

By RPM, the best players of 2014.

1. Lebron James
5. Dirk Nowitzki
6. Steph Curry
7. Nick Collision
8. Manu Ginobili
9. Tim Duncan

The only thing +/- stats tell you is that an individual was part of a 5 man unit that performed well...not that Nick Collision caused his lineups to perform well. It's correlation vs causation.

Wow, I know he's been irrelevant for a while, but Kelly Olynyk over Dwight Howard? :noway:

Andre Drummond, Nurkic, Whiteside, Steven Adams, DeAndre Jordan.....even the PF/C combos like Porzingis, Hortford, KAT, AD, Blake Griffin (I'm sure there are some more).

As everyone else has already said, consistency is an issue for him. Another problem he has, although it's not as bad as his first few years, is foul trouble. He plays with a lot of energy, so he gets into foul trouble quite frequently. Anyway, glad to see he's doing well with the Heat. As I said in another thread a while back, he's one of the guys I wanted to see get thrown into a bigger role to see how much better he can be.

He's been very consistent for the Heat.

Recently yes. But hes had his share of stinkers earlier in the season

I would take Vucevic over him as well so with Whiteside and Bam, that makes him the fourth best professional basketball center in the state of Florida.

Still a good player, but top ten no way. Not even top fifteen.

Oh yeah, because Olynyk does a lot of things more besides shooting long 2s and 3s...

Gonna And-1 you, so you can hang em' up.

Thanks mate. You will be remembered in my induction at the HOF.

Inconsistency is always a problem with him but he is finally hitting a stride and I feel he will be even better once he undergoes a full Heat off-season training season. He has all of the skills to be an All-Star but he is not athletic or physically imposing which are the things you need to be at that level.
