Well KD opened his big mouth about staying with GS which I know he will.
And I know it, too. I'd still go after him with everything I've got because to me, he's hands down the best two way player in the league. Kobe threw out the challenge. I'd follow up to make sure he doesn't want to be the next Laker legend, marquee name of the league.
Going after him with everything youve got would include offering him a chance to pick a new coach if he wants, keeping cap space open for as long as needed even if other targets are ready to sign with the lakers or they’re ready to leave to another team. Don’t think you really mean go after him with everything you’ve got.
I have full confidence in Luke. So does Kerr. So does Phil Jackson. So does Tex Winter. So does Bill Walton. So would have Coach John Wooden. Happy to make that pitch for them.
Edit: It goes without saying that if KD took a team of young ones to a championship or three in the next five, six years, he'd go down as one of the greatest Lakers ever. Immortalized next to West, KAJ, Magic, Kobe... He must've thought about it. That's the pitch he needs to hear. He's not about the walk of fame.
