And I know it, too. I'd still go after him with everything I've got because to me, he's hands down the best two way player in the league. Kobe threw out the challenge. I'd follow up to make sure he doesn't want to be the next Laker legend, marquee name of the league.

Going after him with everything youve got would include offering him a chance to pick a new coach if he wants, keeping cap space open for as long as needed even if other targets are ready to sign with the lakers or they’re ready to leave to another team. Don’t think you really mean go after him with everything you’ve got.

I have full confidence in Luke. So does Kerr. So does Phil Jackson. So does Tex Winter. So does Bill Walton. So would have Coach John Wooden. Happy to make that pitch for them.

Edit: It goes without saying that if KD took a team of young ones to a championship or three in the next five, six years, he'd go down as one of the greatest Lakers ever. Immortalized next to West, KAJ, Magic, Kobe... He must've thought about it. That's the pitch he needs to hear. He's not about the walk of fame.

KD is going to take a chance that young players will improve enough to be a better contender with him than staying with the Warriors?

Lets say he was willing to do that.

He plays the same position as Ingram so who's going to get those minutes at the 3?

Travis Wear deserves a two way contract in the offseason, maybe an NBA deal.

KD aint coming to LA unless Steph's ankle turns to glass AND the Lakers young trio Ingram/Ball/Kuzma turn into all stars.

There's just no way he's coming, and if he does leave, he's better off going to Philly.

Simmons - Point forward who's main job is to feed the shooters, other than shooting has shown amazing all around game
Fultz - secondary ball handler + if his shooting mojo comes back, which we will judge in the rest of the season + playoffs
KD- seamless fit and deadly at all ranges, excels off ball
Covington/Saric - both who can shoot outside from range well, can shift into starting lineup if Fultz doesnt have IT
Embiid - nuff said

KD is a better fit than Lebron, due to the fact that KD doesnt need to dominate the ball. LBJ's fit in Philly is tricky, due to being ball dominant and Simmons not having any range whatsoever (a similar issue if we keep Randle and try to go after LBJ). If LBJ goes there, he's likely to demand that Philly trade Simmons + Bayless (salary filler) to get another perimeter star to make a hard push to WIN NOW. Philly likely will resist such a demand, but goddamn if they do fold to LBJ's will, they can field an insane team depending on who they get back in that trade. Ironically if both LBJ and PG13 go there, with Simmons+Bayless going out... that team is gonna be **** insane (Fultz, PG13, LBJ, Covington/Saric, Embiid), assuming Fultz brain gets fixed.

KD otoh, is ready to plug in with their current core with no other major changes.

Philly had a superior tank job for a coupla additional years, plus master GM asset accumulator in Hinkie, and hence why theyre a bit ahead of us (give Ingram, Lonzo, Hart, and Kuzma another year and they'll ALL look better too) in being ready to contend. Also them having an elite unicorn big in Embiid gives them a MASSIVE edge in team construction, we can get by with a Tyson Chandler type in the middle, but that means 1-4 all needs to be able to shoot 3s. We're just a year too early to go all in, DLo gone makes one less guy to extend, but Randle might just be a cap casualty if his market value is stupid (some idiot team offers him the max), which we should wisely decline if it comes to it.

This offseason is gonna be tricky. PHI really has the best pitch, unless Embiid goes down with injury between now and next FA.

can't disagree with that. With P.G. we're a playoff team.

Still, getting two stars (especially 2 Stars from L.A.) would be great

1) Resign the Beast - Julius Randle - his still young all he needs is a jump shot - give him time

2) Sign PG13 If we can't get PG13 ... Wait for 2019 - don't go for LBJ- his too old etc

3) get rid of Penis I mean Ennis and Lolpez.

4) I would only bring back KCP on a 1-1 contract 2nd year being team option

5) Only sign IT if his willing to come off the bench and earn the $$$ and accept his role, If not release him

Everyone else is worthy too accept - Ennis/lolpez - I'd keep Caruso for 3rd string - but we really need a decent back up PG for when Ball is INjured

I would go as far as giving Ingram the PG roll

We need a true centre who can rebound and play defense, I'm tired of lolpez standing on the 3 point line, not getting rebounds barly playing Defense.

Reasoning: The witch doctors at San Antonio think he's the next coming of Duncan or something like that. Or more likely that they're tired of Leonard's b.s. and we resign Randle and deal him off in this deal. The Spurs find a way to buy a first and draft Dzanan Musa cause Spurs (and he probably turns out to be the next Hedo also).

BTW It's midnight here. But curious why would they trade when Randle is FA next year? ??? just a Q

Ball (32) Vet (16)
Ingram (32) Hart (16)
Durant (32) Kuzma (16)
Randle (32) Kuzma (16)
Boogie (32) Zubac (16)

Ingram could easily play 2 for us and shoot over everyone who tries to guard him. His length and teamD will allow him to compensate for any difference in footspeed on D.

If we're getin' naked and jumping in the pool here....
K A Towns. A-Davis. Trade Klay for Deng.

But meanwhile back on earth....
I'd like us to resign Randle, Sign PG, and Give Lopez a 1- year deal. Resign Nance.

Not interested in moving all our young guys for a 3 to 4-year window at titles with Lebron. I won't cry if it comes to that...but I'd like to bring one "Star" in, and continue to grow.

LOL at the idea of LeBron and PG wanting to go to PHI to play with Markelle Fultz. Here's the entire list of #1 overall picks who began their careers coming off the bench:

Andrea Bargnani
Anthony Bennett
Markelle Fultz

That's it.

Fultz is just as awful now as he was before he faked his injuries. LeBron is not going to waste the rest of his career in a **** city like Philadelphia playing with an all-time bust like that. SMH at some of the posts in this forum.

1) Trade Cavs 2018 1st for 2019 1st
2) Trade Randle (S/T), Ingram, Deng for Kawhi and Pau
3) Sign Paul George 30.6m
4) Sign Derrick Favors ~18m (3-year, last yr team option)
5) Sign Luc Mbah a Moute ~3m (1-year)
6) Sign Seth Curry ~8.7m Full MLE (1-yr)
7) Sign Travis Wear to minimum 1.6m
8) Convert Caruso into standard minimum contract 1.4m

Nominal Depth Chart
Lonzo, Curry, Caruso
George, Hart
Kawhi, Wear
Kuzma, Mbah a Moute, Bryant
Favors, Pau, Zubac

Why a multiyear deal for Favors? If we land George and Kawhi, the top FA's in 2019 Klay and Butler are irrelevant. UNLESS we succeed in:

Showcasing Favors, who is a good bet to blow up, since he's only 26, and was on his way to become a 20-10-2 blk stud before Rudy Gobert derailed him. Favors has top-10 center potential, and in some ways he's almost already there.

Next season, we can dangle a blockbuster package of Derrick Favors, Paul George/Kawhi, and the parlayed 1st for say...Anthony Davis (the Pelicans will start feeling the pressure next season, since Davis can opt out in 2020).

Then, sign Klay Thompson to a max in 2019.

By next summer:

Lonzo top 10 point guard
Klay (2nd best 3-point shooter of all time)
Kawhi MVP/DPOY candidate
Kuzma top 10 power forward
Anthony Davis MVP/DPOY candidate

Cousins would have been perfect b4 injury - still might if he wants to come a little cheaper or on a short term deal :)

Ideal offseason?

Post#298 » by AmusingFiddle » Thu Mar 29, 2018 10:55 pm

I would consider it a home run if we

- trade Deng and future 1st (protected), Clev 1st for future considerations.
- resign Randle
and
- sign PG13

We can save our cap for ‘19.

I am afraid LBJ will only give us 2 good years and that’s it. If we sign him to a 5 year deal we are screwed.
