Well get to that bridge when we cross it. RDV and Martins are also to blame for us still being stuck in this whole. They ruined Rob's plan of a proper rebuild and building thru the draft. Prevented us from bottoming out properly to get top picks, by signing vets(who weren't that good) and had coaches who loved vets to no end. The end results is will still are nowhere close to playoffs and had one top 3 pick in that last 6 years.
This season is just about wrapped up and identical as the past few seasons. Rattling off wins late, that push us away from that important top 3 pick.
Pls don't defend Rob.
Do you really belive somebody pushed him into trading Šarić, Harris, Oladipo and all other young players for garbage he got in return? Even Dwight trade was piss poor, but that trade ended up sucking for literally everybody involved so it doesn't look that bad now. essentially he gave up superstar for 7 role players and bench warmers.
And picks he got he pissed away in terrible attemp to move up in 2014 draft where he traded Hair for Šarić and gave 76ers their pick back.
I believe he was pushed into the Skiles hire and Harris trade. And he didnt "give up" a superstar. Dwight was leaving and screwed the Magic by his agent telling every single team he wouldnt re-sign with them.
Myth one: Dwight screwed Magic.
literally everybody knew he wants out, but he actually helped Magic by opting in, giving Magic time to deal with him in one way or another. If he didn't do that, he was going to become UFA in 2012, leaving Magic with literlly nothing.
How Hennigan used that ?
He traded Howard, legit star player, at times top 10 player in nba for:
76ers third string C ( Vuc )
Afflalo who was already 27 and didn't fit into long term plans
Already passed his prime Harrington
Christian Eyenga ( who? )
Josh McRoberts
Romero Osby (via 2013 2nd round)
Moe Harkless
That sounds like a good trade to you ? They had great offers on the table around 2011 ( but that's not on Hennigan ) that they simply turned down.
Let's not forget what was turned down in 2011
Chad Ford is saying that the Nets not only offered Brook Lopez, but also their first round pick in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, AND the Rockets‘ first rounder in 2012. That’s just an insane package of assets, especially considering the strength of this year’s draft class.
Myth 2: Tobias Harris- Scott Skiles
Tobias Harris was traded to Orlando at February 21st 2013, Scott Skiles was fired by Bucks at January 8th 2013,as you can see whole myth that lives in heads of Magic fans how Skiles hated him and traded him away is false, since he was moved AFTER Skiles was fired, by non other than Hammond.
Did he have any influence on hiring himself to Magic? Maybe, but Skiles was actually smart enough to know that you can't build winning team with Hair running PG and ruining team offense and defense 3 years before some fans figured it out, problem, however, was that Hennigan didn't want to back it up to "his boy" so Skiles decided to leave, leaving money on the table just to end it.
What Hennigan did afer Skiles left? Turned it all around ? Oh well, traded Oladipo and pick for Ibaka and gave Biyombo 4 years contract.
Brilliant.
