Keep the pick. Good draft. I would be surprised if we don't take a league consensus 17th overall player this year if we keep it. Also, if we trade it, future picks are typically worth less.

Don't care really. Either way. I selected keep the pick only because that would make things fun and interesting as a fan.

I don't trust the Bucks to pick an impact player at #16, much rather lose it this year.

Keep the pick and trade it for a 2019 pick.

I say no. If Giannis goes down next year (touch wood he doesn't) we'll likely be picking top 10. Worst case scenario is the pick falls just outside the protection and we're giving the 4th/5th pick. The pick has to convey at some point so I'd rather it be now. Conveying it at the 17th pick is probably the best outcome for us TBH.

I want the pick. I think Horst is a diamond in the rough potentially. He may need a couple of years before he shines.

Three outcomes I foresee:

1st: Bucks keep the pick, draft a turd at 17, we lament next year about how we should've given up the pick because we drafted Joe DJ Grayson Allen Wilson Alexander this year instead of somebody better next year.
2nd: Bucks lose the pick, the Suns get a good player at 17, and PP people lose their minds over how if we had just been a little bit better this year, that player should have been ours (bonus points if it's the son of a former European player)
3rd: Bucks keep the pick, draft a stud, we all party like it's 1971.

So basically it'll be either 1 or 2

I think Horst is a lump of coal waiting to become a diamond.

By way of Emuney's GM Maker Machine, I found the following results:

<brzzzzzzzzt bzzzzzzt zapppppp>10,000 years until Horst is Diamond. DO NOT WAIT!!!<Zerbbbbb Zappppppp>

Just a run down on some players we missed out on the last 3 drafts

2017 john collins, allen, anunoby
2016 sabonis, prince
2015 portis, hollis-jefferson, nance jr

Do you trust these same people with another first rounder?

You guys are talking about firing the GM, not keeping the pick. Separate issue. If we're not smart enough to can a bad GM now, why are we smart enough to hire a good GM later? Why doesn't the fatalism extend to the next GM hire?

No, but if anything, this post shows how much value we could potentially luck into at 17.

Seems like the "give up the pick" camp is built upon one or more of the following: 1) don't give our idiot franchise a draft pick to use on the wrong player, or; 2) We'll pick higher if we draft in a later year than now.

Neither of those two seem sound. We aren't changing the GM before the bucks use the pick, regardless of whether it's this year or next or the next. IMO, the team has under-performed this year and I wouldn't bet on a worse record next year.

Am I missing something?

Lose the pick this year and keep the pick next season. If the Bucks blow it up this offseason with a massive roster overhaul, there's just as good of a chance that the Bucks will be a top Eastern Conference team next season as there is that the Bucks don't make the playoffs.

Robert Williams and Jaylon Brunson are both high floor players at positions of need that should be available at 17.

Don't even think that Horst has been a bad GM. Just need a clean slate heading into the new arena.

Yes. Give up the pick this year to open up flexibility sooner in trading first round picks.
