He was successful everywhere he went, never afraid of challenges. If he left one place, they were always desperate to get him back. He won 2 D League championships with his own system. Stackhouse won, but you must remember that he won with Nurse designed system. Nurse was a candidate for assistant in Steve Kerrs staff but he stayed in toronto.
Nurse has immense experience with developing players, he knows how to mold them into winning players.
If Weltman is saiyng truth, he thinks Vogel is a good coach, so why he fired him ?
1. He knows there is a better coach out there.
2. He is afraid someone else will hire him before we do.
Weltman dont need interview with Nurse, he worked with him for years so if he knew there is a better coach out there it is propably Nurse or Stackhause. Stack is a bit to arogant for my taste i think there is a chance players will grow tired of him.

Nurse is my number one option mainly because of how he reshaped Toronto's offense. We need someone creative and effective. I like the idea of Stackhouse, but I still have PTSD after JV.

The more I read and research on Nick Nurse the more I want the guy here and hopefully Stackhouse will join as a lead assistant. The dude not only won those D league title teams, but he has won championships at every stop he's been a head coach. Raptors have been sensational since he got there. He basically saved Dwayne Casey's career. Look at Coach Casey's record before Nurse got to the Raptors.

British League: Birmingham, Manchester,London, Brighton - He won championships or league playoff championships at each one.
Belgium League: Telindus Oostende - Belgium Cup winner
G-League : Iowa Energy, Rio Grande Valley Vipers - D/G League Champions

how is she a "trailblazer" as a coach?

and Vaughn had Pop's praise.

She's the first female coach in the NBA... she's making a new track through "wild country". She's the definition of a trailblazer.

And you made my point with the JV comment. Exactly what I said above, taking this job could jeopardize her career.

Also, former assistant coaches under Pop who have had good head coaching years:
Brett Brown
Mike Budenholzer
PJ Carlesimo
Alvin Gentry
Mike Brown

It's not a foolproof system, but it's not a bad one either.

Don't get me wrong, I do not think hiring Becky is the "right" decision for today's Magic, but I do think she could be a good NBA coach in this league.

Well she could be a good coach as Pop says, but that doesn't mean she is the best coach available or right coach for this team, nor does it mean she will be successful here if she takes the job.

We need a player development coach...I feel like her getting hired would be for the wrong reasons (Alex Martin move).

Let her take the Colorado State job and see how well she does there. If our new head coach sucks then she can be hired here in three years if she proves to be decent at CSU.

Also, she allegedly had an affair with Tony Parker, one of her players! We have to bring that up, because half the players on this team are going to attempt to sleep with her if she became coach, even knowing she is in a relationship with a woman right now. That's going to cause a circus in the locker room.

Totally agree with your first and second statements. Which is what I've said in all of my previous posts. She's a lesbian... and that rumor was proved wrong. And it's a ****, and sexist rumor to begin at that.

The serious question is do you really need it explained?

Hammond might not be the best fit for the job but the fact she’s even in the discussion is something I wasn’t sure I’d see in my lifetime.

well, more than half the players get a lot more attractive women throwing it at them than Hammons. there may be jokes and stuff, but doubtful much more than that.

There is no substance to this at all. That would be a HUGE deal and something that would kill her career. It's TMZ garbage.

Also, this isn't the 80s. NBA locker rooms are filled with a lot of professionals. A lot of these guys want to win, they're not worried about trying to bang their coach. I mean if she's coaching the Jailblazers or the Wizards of a few years ago, maybe that would be a potential issue but a lot of NBA players are smart, respectful people that have no problem with a coach like that.

"Good" isn't the definition of trailblazer. Often times the first to do something is only remembered for being the first; not often for doing it well.

The fact that this argument was chalked up to, "Na, there are more attractive women out there," is despicable.

I'd be thrilled with Hammon as our coach.

Becky Hammon
Nick Nurse
David Fizdale
Jerry Stackhouse
Igor Kokoskov
Ettore Messina
Mike Buldenhozer

One of these would be great, best case scenario would be getting Nick Nurse and Stack as his assistant.

Meanwhile the Knicks are interviewing every candidate possible but our GM's are on vacation :banghead:

Is David Blatt available? If so he is #1 on the list for me. A good young player coach.

I think he is available. This week we dont start the interview process and it tells me there is a good chance our guy is in playoffs. Weltman is always talking about his commitment to rhis job, that he thinks about future moves 24/7 i can bet he is 99% sure who he wants. Process is a process but he wasnt born yesterday.
We need coach with experience, hard worker who can build winning program from the ground, highly adaptive to player changes, proven developer of players, winner, someone who has a successful system, knows what players he needs, and how to develop players he has, preferably with ties to Weltman and Hammond.
This kind of coaches are super rare, i see only one available now that i can say i am certain has all of this traits.

David Griffin on Woj podcast (I think it was?) said Blatt was their perfect hire for young team, developmental, patient rebuild...they really didn’t think LeBron was coming back...wasn’t the right hire for a LeBron (veteran, win -now) team but rebuilding with Kyrie, Wiggins, etc Blatt was Griffin’s choice...very similar to what we’re likely looking for

Blatt would be a great hire I didn't think of, however we would have to move some vets out. Gordon has an ego that is growing and he'd need to tame that too. He certainly would be a good hire though!

I think there is too much hype around him, guy has a lot to learn. He is coaching a team with established system which he didnt create, he has proven nba coaches to advice him, he has mother team which likes to send him nba caliber players to play. He is talented and great character but he should learn as a lead assistant first. Second thing is he is arogant which can lead to losing his players. In the d league he is a dream come true but in the nba he is just a former good player.
